I'm just going to flood the chat with generic stupid questions, just to see if he answers one.

I threw them the Hammond:

"If the team is unable to acquire Tex, is there a plan to spend a roughly equivalent amount pursuing multiple lesser free agents to improve the team?"

I asked two questions that are along these lines.

I figured I couldn't be the only one.  I'm sure they won't answer.

Could the Nats fall in behind that or would it be Nats/Caps/Wizards all about the same.  Is it just whoever steps up and is able to sustain success at this point?
This is pretty much how it works. Redskins are number one, followed by whoever is hot at the moment. At the moment, the Caps are hot, and the Wizards and Nats are not.

I sent in a question about Anderson Hernandez. Trying to word them in a friendly mode.

We should ask about Yunel Escobar. And somebody should ask him what the hell was up with Willy Taveras.

BTW do you think we can figure out his email address from his chat handle? j_bowden@mlb.com? or @nationals.com?

This is the correct answer ...

that makes 3 of us. I asked two different variations of this question, and Chief asked as well.

He can't answer any questions about players under another teams control. That violates the no tampering rule.

I asked this about Tavaras:
Jim,  we heard the stories about the near trade with Colorado for Willie Tavaras.  I'm wondering why go after another outfielder when there's already an overcrowding issue there with young talent ready to come up in the near future.

I remember that...it was all questions about what Jimbo eats for breakfast, which player on the team is the best dancer, etc. All the juicy questions were ignored.

Karl Ravech on SC this morning

It appears as if the idea that he wants to play for a competitor in the East, while that’s a priority, it’s almost neutralized by the fact that there’s an enormous attraction to the Orioles. He grew up in Maryland. His family is there. His wife has very, very close ties to that area. There’s something that kind of keeps bringing he and (agent) Scott Boras back to the Orioles as a hometown, ‘I’d love to play for the team I grew up watching,’ (destination).
