Don't shoot the messenger...just reporting what I heard.
He might be saying that just to get the Sox to up their offer though.
You really don't know what is going on in his mind.

I doubt if he says close to home, he means the O's though. If he is playing close to home, it has to be for us. That is at least my feeling, not sure about everyone else.

I don't think the Redskins have it anywhere near as bad as say, the Patriots. Friends of friends have seen Redskins players in bars and they seemed happy. Politics will stilll be king, followed by the Redskins.
Could the Nats fall in behind that or would it be Nats/Caps/Wizards all about the same.  Is it just whoever steps up and is able to sustain success at this point?

according to MLBTR, the Red Sox have officially made their offer, but no terms made public.

supposedly for 8 years.

DC likes winners, and the Redskins, because they earned that with their past history.
When the Nats make the playoffs, DC will support them. We have a ton of fair weather fans here.

There are a lot of people who have never seen a winning team in DC, especially transplants. I think if any of the major sports teams can go on a streak for a few years advancing deep into the playoffs, they'll be at the top for a while.

Everyone is saying how low the attendance was last year, but the team just sucked. I was shocked they had 30,000 at games. I was actually impressed with the turnout. I know we have a new stadium, but the team was just awful to watch.

Just heard on Sportscenter on ESPNRadio that Tex spoke with someone at ESPN (can't remember who he said, Kirkjian maybe, sorry, I really don't remember, but it wasn't Kruk or Olney, I do know that) and said he's close to a decision and is very interested in playing close to home.  Take it for what it's worth.
It was Ravech.  Dan Davis said the Nats were just in it as much as the Yanks, Sawks and Halos, no mention of the O's.

Productivity today just went out the window.

Don't forget the JimBo chat at 11:00 a.m. today.  I'm guessing there'll be even less productivity between 11 a.m. and noon.

It's not like that here in DC -- it's nothing like new york or boston when it comes to fame frenzy -- the athletes, particularly the star athletes really enjoy playing and living in DC -- they have nothing but good things to say about the fans and the community and the schools are top notch - even if the Nats become perennial contenders -- Tex would still very much have a life here
