I really wouldn't be surprised if this thing goes right to Christmas.

Teix wants it done by Christmas so I don't think it will be that long.

According to that link they think the birds have offered 10/200. Where did they get that from?

it's wishful thinking.  they WANT the birds to offer 10/200 to beat our offer.

that may go on for another week so if you have any vacation time you may want to use it now before you get fired for slacking off on the job.
he won't sign tonight.  generally wednesday/thursday is the busiest of the week of winter meetings, but it could extend to next week and possibly the week after.  make sure you have the coffee pot on/stocked fridge.
Not expecting it to happen tonight.  I managed to get everything done today I had to, it just didn't get done as quickly as it...could have.  I can't afford to lose this job.  It's paying for life as well as most of my school so, I think I'll remain productive enough to not lose my job.

Once it gets down to this much money ($150+ Million) I think Teixeira is just going to go to the team he feels most comfortable with.

You can buy anything you'd ever want with $150 Million the same you could with $200 Million. More money than any one person will ever need.

BTW the Orioles will beat this IMO. Angelos will not lose Tex to the Nats...

I see us going to 8/184 with options for a 10/230 total contract.

This was my favorite post over there. Do they really think that Angelos will not lose Tex? How long has he owned the Orioles? Have they learned nothing? Sheep.

They also have 15 posts per page, we've got 25 posts per page.  They're not THAT far ahead.  1306 to 1011 (at the time of this post)

if we land Tex, i think he immediately makes our lineup more than legit-it'd be a potential powerhouse. we'd have 5 players who will hit 20+ homers- Milledge, Zimmerman, Tex, Dukes, and Willingham. a 3-4-5 of Zimmerman, Tex, and Dukes would be a FORCE! obviously, i put the emphasis on Dukes. Zimmerman would excel batting in front of Tex, and Dukes would rack up the RBI's batting behind Tex.

the only sketchy player in our lineup would be Anderson Hernandez, which we could override by acquiring Hudson.

for example check out their forum list.

the first forum says:

 Orioles Talk  (536 Viewing)

they've got a LOT more people posting there than we have here. that's a product of longevity.

I've never seen a Scott Bore-ass client with this type of thinking.

He's going to Boston.

Probably. Boston and New York always get the big free agents. crappy teams like ours' don't generally sign $100+ Million dollar free agents.

The main reason I want Teixeira is to see the look of disbelief on John Kruk's face on BBTN. Kruk, Ravech, all of them...

my favorite post over on OH's thread, and I agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly.

Not really, I'm pretty sure Manny is the only guy the Sox've gotten for +100M.

It's endorsements.  If you go to a place where you have a better chance at a WS ring, or even a WS MVP, you have a better chance at racking up a lot more in your career with various endorsement deals and the like.

I would almost rather the O's get Tex than the BoSox for that very reason, JMad, but in the end, I'd rather him not play us 6 times a year for the next 8 years.  Every home run he would hit against us would sting a little bit.

Yea, but i agree with what sportsfan said earlier, 150M is like the same as 200M, it can buy you the same crap just less amount.. Signing to get more money from endorsements and crap is just a stupid reason, but it happens. If he signs here he will be recognized as the face of the franchise, elsewhere hes just another big player (between bay and ortiz, come on lol).

But yea the homers he would hit against us would hurt ALOTTA bit
