The Mets promoted a former MLB manager who was a current coach and also promoted the coaches from the AAA team to the MLB team.  We don't have a promotable coach on this team, so bring up the Columbus manager and entire staff.  (Give their jobs to Little League or college coaches.  They finish in Sept anyway.  Let Lo Duca coach them.)

The Mets couldn't POSSIBLY improve by doing this, say the hand-wringers, but they DID.  What would happen here?  Kearns would no longer hit cleanup, and Bonaducci would not lead off.  Look at Bergmann's recent stats - he collapses every other game.  So give him a short leash... or tell him that Bowden just got fired.  The second time just say, "I was kidding before, this time he really WAS fired... until the Lerners actually do it.

Somehow the Colorado Rockies played in the World Series last year.  But wait, they didn't have a $100 million payroll and didn't even have the best players.  It's too bad that Acta has a lifetime job, and doesn't have to do anything to earn it except show up.  He can drill the players on fielding, tell Lenny Harris to STFU when he tells players to hit to the opposite field, tell Colome to work on control more than speed, OPEN his freaking mouth when batters swing at every single first pitch.

(Image removed from quote.)

did you actually look at the mets stats before and after?  they hit the same, they pitched the same.  the team stats are nearly identical, except for the w/l column, which is only SLIGHTLY better than it was before. they showed a graphic about it during yesterdays game.  that to me says that they simply played the same way they played for Willie Randolph, only against lesser teams.

and jerry Manuel did WONDERS during that 10 game losing streak they had (or however long it was).

fact: last season, the Rockies were a better team than us.  they didn't have a 100 million dollar payroll, but they had better players than we did.

fact: this year, the Mets are a better team than us.

Fact: this year, the Nationals are not a good team, they do not have quality players. the Nationals are in fact, the worst team in baseball.

promoting the columbus coaching staff won't change that right now.

like I said, re-arranging deck chairs on the titanic.

but sure, fire Manny. do it right now. and then when nothing changes, and the team is STILL bad, then what will you say? will you then be patient, or will we be doing this all over again?

this team has a lot of problems and holes to fill talentwise, and all you can think about is "I hate manny."

12-0 final. Some career minor leaguer bum Stokes pitched the last 4 innings for a save. Disaster.

What's worse, we didn't even score off him.

Debbi Taylor with another brilliant question. "how tough was this for your bullpen?"
