Maine is racking up the pitches.  We probably get to see the sorry ass duo of Heilmann and Sanchez tonight.

You can't blame the man for throwing a beach party from time to time.

Now that I think about it, why not?  It's not like we were gonna score any runs anyhow.

We need to create a thread about "things better or more fun than Bergmann's outing.

Or maybe not.  Maybe this is the game we deserve to be no-hit.

Ayala has at least shown he can pitch in the league at some point.  Colome has not.

yep, cause Bergmann will instantly turn into roy halladay, the instant Manny is fired.  gtfo with this.
when do the players have to take responsibility for playing like crap?

A REAL manager would NOT have left Bergmann out there to give up EIGHT RUNS in a single inning.  Even All Star pitchers get shelled, but real managers RECOGNIZE that AT THE TIME, get off their ASS, and PULL them out.  When does Manny Acta take responsibility for ANYTHING?  It's Manny's JOB to prepare a DAILY lineup, but he doesn't know his head from his ass about that, and didn't in 2007 either.  Why is a man who is 5' 8" playing FIRST BASE, while someone 6' 3", with a higher batting average, is on the bench?   This is team that has NO manager.  Blowouts happen to all good managers, but tell me what Acta has done to improve this team... in any way?

Bonapatio gets 2 walks in the same game?

A REAL TEAM would have REAL BALLPLAYERS. Acta probably knows the tools he is working with are all crap but he has to throw something out there to appease the masses.

I can see it now: Bergmann gives up two runs (instead of eight) and then is pulled and the apologists call foul and for Manny's head because "he wasn't given the chance to work out of it because of his amazing start last time." Two, eight, not much of a difference when your dealing with a player with a head problem.

It's really stretching it thin trying to lay the blame on Manny Acta.

incidentally, the job of "improving" the team falls more on the GM.

Poor folks. I'd probably swear to never go to another game again if I was at this one.

I'm going Friday. gulp. They are 4-2 (3 walk off HR wins) when I go this year though.

The Mets promoted a former MLB manager who was a current coach and also promoted the coaches from the AAA team to the MLB team.  We don't have a promotable coach on this team, so bring up the Columbus manager and entire staff.  (Give their jobs to Little League or college coaches.  They finish in Sept anyway.  Let Lo Duca coach them.)

The Mets couldn't POSSIBLY improve by doing this, say the hand-wringers, but they DID.  What would happen here?  Kearns would no longer hit cleanup, and Bonaducci would not lead off.  Look at Bergmann's recent stats - he collapses every other game.  So give him a short leash... or tell him that Bowden just got fired.  The second time just say, "I was kidding before, this time he really WAS fired... until the Lerners actually do it.

Somehow the Colorado Rockies played in the World Series last year.  But wait, they didn't have a $100 million payroll and didn't even have the best players.  It's too bad that Acta has a lifetime job, and doesn't have to do anything to earn it except show up.  He can drill the players on fielding, tell Lenny Harris to STFU when he tells players to hit to the opposite field, tell Colome to work on control more than speed, OPEN his freaking mouth when batters swing at every single first pitch.

We have walked the #8-9 hitters 5 times tonight.

10 walks total in the game. Didn't we just walk 13 two games ago? WTF is going on?
