The argument for swinging on the first pitch is, after a couple of walks, the reliever maybe grooves the first pitch expecting a take....

Like I say, I like Lind, I want him back, but it was at best misexecution.

Yup that's exactly my argument...and sure, you can't argue it wasn't misexecution.  But Lind is one of two or three guys on the team I think I'd want up there taking that chance...

Also Taylor's single 2 pitches later to make it 9-8 was on a 1-0 pitch.  Should he have been taking?  I mean the situation is totally different, but one thing to consider is Lobaton is behind him, in which case does that extend up to Lind at all?  Lots of things to consider.  We weren't going to walk our way to victory.... None of this matters though.  We lost and Chicago will too tonight.
