You are traveling through another dimension,
a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind.
A journey into a wondrous land of imagination.
Your next stop...

A land where one team in Baltimore controls the television revenue of the team in Washington, within view of the Capitol, filled with politicians too cowardly to stop it.

The Parkway Series, through the years:

2005 - did not play
2006 - home 2-1, away 1-2, total 3-3
2007 - home 1-2, away 3-0, total 4-2
2008 - home 2-1, away 1-2, total 3-3
2009 - home 1-2, away 1-2, total 2-4
2010 - home 2-1, away 0-3, total 2-4

this will be a true test, last year's Nats team would get swept.  Can we take at least 2 out of 3?

Best part about going to two of the three games: not having to listen to the ridiculous combined crew :spaz:

It's easy to spot hammonds at this series. He'll be the one wearing split gear.

Looks like Britton basically is Marquis peripherals-wise, but with more walks and worse defense--and so, presumably, more luck.  Let's win this one.

Desmond thinks it's the fans:

http://ht.ly/5kpi2

Someone needs to tell him how many Os fans there are in this area so he doesn't get disheartened.

Quote
And while [Zimmerman's] impact on the lineup is certainly part of the reason things have improved offensively, with the Nationals already notching two comeback victories this homestand and simply pounding the ball all over the park, shortstop Ian Desmond suggested one other reason: the fans.

"I think the biggest thing that's creating this right now is that this stadium is full of people that are cheering for us, finally," Desmond said. "They always say that winning brings the fans but starting with this series, the first night, there was a lot of people here and everyone was cheering for us. When the Cardinal fans started cheering, our fans started booing. That's home field advantage.

"It makes you feel better when you know that there's people cheering for you. There were times in the past where the game would be ending, 3-2, two outs and only half the people would be standing up. I don't know if that was because they were for the other team or what, but you definitely feel the vibe now."

For those going this weekend - reminder about Metro track work on all lines except Yellow (only work involving Green line though involves portion from College Park to Greenbelt): http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/news/PressReleaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=4946 - also about 30-50% possibility of scattered/isolated thundershowers throughout the weekend.

Oh, blergh, good thing we are driving tomorrow and I guess we'll drive to the zoo on sunday ( I can usually find a space there that the tourists think is off-limits due to so many confusing signs).

He's playing Jerry "Bad Back and Hurt Foot" Hairston instead of Laynce Nix :bang:

If we're trying to use bat our worst hitter eighth, I wonder if the order shouldn't be 8. Desmond, 9. Marquis...

Right now it's one of the most beautiful days in recent memory, I just moved myself outside for awhile.

I do sort of understand Riggleman's reasoning leaving Nix out of the lineup.  Last time he decided to turn a hitter who had historically exhibited extreme platoon tendencies into a starter, it was Nyjer Morgan and he sucked the next year.

Looks pretty nice outside the window of my office right now too (just about equidistant from the Capitol and Verizon Centre) as I'm getting ready to leave for theday.

I moved myself inside, the breeze died down and I got eaten alive by skeeters.
