Here’s a neat story apparently posted in the sweet spot between the no from Alexandria and the yes from DC/Leonsis:

https://www.axios.com/local/washington-dc/2024/03/27/ted-leonsis-capitals-wizards-capital-one-arena

“Ted Leonsis is suddenly saying awfully nice things about Capital One Arena.

“Why it matters: Maybe there's a vibe shift happening, as the Post's Dan Steinberg wondered. The comments come as Virginia's efforts to bring the Capitals and Wizards to Alexandria stall, and after D.C.'s attorney general warned the teams can't contractually leave downtown until 2047.

“State of play: Leonsis on Wednesday tweeted "incredible info" that Monday's Zach Bryan concert was the highest attended concert in the history of Capital One Arena.

“It was the arena's "highest single night for merchandise sales."
Not just that: "Even more amazing data," he tweeted, shows that since March 1, "over 325,000 fans have come through our doors to enjoy @Capitals and @WashWizards games, concerts, Georgetown basketball, the ACC tournament and other events." (Again, all things he wanted to move across the Potomac.)

“"Each of these events brings the community together, supports thousands of jobs, and generates significant tax revenue for the city," he tweeted. Note: "the city"!

“To top it off: 90% of Caps fans renewed season tix, and he expects 85-90% of Wiz fans to follow. "We will never take for granted your loyalty to the teams," Leonsis says.”

It would’ve been nice if they also said he was selling the teams, but I’ll take what I can get.
