Greg Finberg looks at the Beal trade, one year later:

Quote
PHX:
• Beal missed 29 games
• $161 million still owed to Beal
• Swept in round 1

WAS:
• 14% chance at #1 pick
• No longer paying Beal
• Pick swaps: ‘24, ‘26, ‘28, ‘30 (via PHX)
• Second-round picks: ‘24, ‘25, ‘26, ‘27, ‘30 (via PHX)

Who is the best player from LSU? Crews and Daniels need to start a frat or alumni club.

A big man who doesn’t shoot from 3? That may be the one position this draft has

Greg Finberg is lobbying for Stephon Castle, looks like a poor man’s Steph who is a top-level defender. The CBS mock has the wizards taking him.

The guys I’ve heard talking about the draft have been saying most GMs say it’s like a good draft minus the first 7-10 picks. If we get someone serviceable, I’ll be happy

Someone who can rebound and defend the rim would be fine.

Topic went down with a knee injury today. So cross him off the list. Probably.

Reading a bit more about castle, top defender for u-conn who can shoot when he needs to but is more of a playmaker. Shot really well at the combine the other day. Seems like he would fill an immediate need for a PG / SG type.
