A coworker gave me some venison that he shot so I'm making a nice venison stew this morning. Got it going in the crockpot with some potatos, carrots, onions, green beans, and a healthy pour of red wine. I went to Wegmans shortly after they opened this morning and got a freshly baked baguette so bring on the snow.  :az:
Can’t believe you are eating Bambi.

I had some bear splattered on my car in WV a couple years ago but didn’t try to eat any.

Bear poop doesn’t count.

Hit it head on. Was more than his poop. He ended up a ways back I think. Owes me some money also for the rental car.

If our relatives were ever to visit for Christmas, I'd like to serve venison for dinner, although I suppose their daughter is now 13 (today's her birthday) such that the humor of serving Rudolph for Christmas dinner wouldn't provoke the same squawking it would have a few years back.

First time eating Bambi. Might be the last. Tastes a little too different to be enjoyable. The bourbon isn't even helping.

If anyone else likes spicy eggs & potatoes, this recipe is great

I've made a bunch of recipes from that show and all have been excellent.

My girlfriend and I have been doing the Whole30 diet in January. There's a lot of substitutes for a lot of classic stuff (like sauces) with varying successes but it's been a lot of chicken, potatoes (thankfully allowed when baked) and vegetables/fruit. I've lost almost 6 pounds in 2 weeks (169-163) and overall feel a lot healthier, which is the biggest thing they harp on - this is supposed to change habits more than just cut weight. So that's good. but damn if I want a freaking donut.

Some meals we've made or are making

- Zucchini Noodles & Meatballs
- Pulled bbq chicken & potatoes
- Stir Fry chicken & vegetables (cocunut aminos instead of soy sauce)
- Almond milk with bananas and almond butter as a dessert
- Homemade chicken tenders (almond flour + eggs + organice/whole30 bbq sauce)

Learning to cook more vegetables and use fruit as a snack vs. chips or peanuts or ice cream or whatever.

freak almond butter though.

Not sure why almond butter would be preferred over PB. It's basically the same, macro-nutrionally.

Something with legumes or some crap. I'm not sure. It seems overly restrictive to me but the whole point is to change habits and cut out as much processed/unnatural stuff as possible. I already eat pretty healthy overall despite loving Bojangles so it's annoying to me that I can't go with my usual whole wheat bread and brown rice. High-fiber diets have been my regular for years due to some health stuff so replacing my grain fiber with like vegetables is ehhhh

I think limiting you to specific foods just makes you pay attention to what you eat. That's how most of these trend diets work, I think.

Veggies do have more micro-nutrients than grains. That's why you should eat them both together.

Venison is fantastic. Don’t give up.

The hunter who procured said venison told me to try marinating it in coca cola and instead of browning it in a fry pan to just throw it raw into the crockpot.
