SI's Truth and Rumors has what I think is a fake rumor about Manny:

If they open the vault - and they should - add them to the very short list of teams that may go after Manny Ramirez, especially if Jim Bowden is still the general manager. Bowden wore a Ramirez wig on to the field last week when the Dodgers were in town. He also remarked that the two greatest hitters he's seen are Barry Bonds and Ramirez.

this might not be all that unreasonable. he is not going to get a 10 year deal at his age. if we give him like 3 or 4 for a lot of money, it could work.

he could do whatever he wants here and nobody will hound him

maybe he will come here for cheap if was say "do whatever you want. dont hustle. show up at 7:04 for a 7:05 game. we dont care"

That's true. If we got him and anyone complained, they should be banned.

I still prefer Dunn and posted numbers and facts to support that preference. If we get Manny and he kicks butt, then the Lerners are great. If we get Manny and he sucks, fire JB

I think Dunn is more likely because I'd expect his price tag to be cheaper, but I'm highly suspicious that the Nats would sign either one.

Dunn I think has a solid chance of happening only if Jim Bowden is GM next year.

Manny wants 5 x $25+. If he gets less, which he would certainly get with the Nats, he's going to pout and mope and turn doubles into singles and beat up elderly travel secretaries.

I feel sorry for the team with a 41 year old fielder making 25+. I don't think he can get 5 years out of an NL team

The Yankees ought to sign him. That way they get a peek at Alex Rodriguez at the end of his contract.

Hank know each team only gets 1 DH, right? I could see Angels, but I think that unless he brings a WS ring in year 1 or 2, the team will regret it for years 3-5 when their salary structure is ruined.
