I love that Manny let Joel hit and make him get the save himself.  First smart thing he has done with some balls in a while even if it does not work out.

Wow, sick slider for strike 3.

Why do they refuse to call for the fastball?  I don't understand it.

He can't throw it for strikes. His slider is his bread and butter, at least tonight. He's throwing it really well.

We can't afford a wild pitch here.

Whoever it was that took the throw (Bonifacio?) was out of position to take the throw.  He was in front of the bag, if he's on top of the bag or behind it he'd probably have gotten him.  But instead he had to come back for the tag and it took a hair too long.

His slider has improved by leaps and bounds from last season, IMO.

He went to where the ball was thrown.

The only thing he can throw for a strike is his slider.

I don't think so, I think he came too far.  He came to the far side of the bag and fielded it on his left side, which was back on the 2b side in front of the bag. If he comes to the bag he probably has a better shot.

And he throws him a fastball to induce a ground out.

GREAT clutch pitching by Joel Hanrahan tonight.

Then he has to reach for the throw. I'll go back and check it now that the game is over.

How do we react when we win a game?

We finally won!

I bet the Phils' fans are pissed. They had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs in the 8th and a runner at 2nd with no outs in the 9th and couldn't tie it up. I bet their board is going wild, especially if the Mutts win in the  9th or extra innings tonight.

Maybe but, fortunately, it didn't matter!

Nope, just checked it. The reason the throw looked perfect was because Hernandez fileded it where it was. Had he been where you suggested he would've had to reach or lunge forward for the ball.

It'd be sweet if Lannan could shut down the Cubs tomorrow and we won our 2nd in a row.

Manny actually made some smart managing decisions.   Yawn...
