As I said before, I think JB is better out of the pen.  He doesn't have the arm strength or mindset to come out every five days and give us 6-7 innings.  He was a bit better tonight though.

Some people said his bullpen outings were bad because he wasn't USED to pitching out of the pen.

Stupid comment.  Shell has been absolutely money.  That is one of a couple of mistakes he has made.
Shell has been "money" when pitching in blowout games. This is one of the first real times he has pitched in a close game and he failed miserably.

Manning has been a bum in the Colome and Ayala mode.

Yeah I agree with eagle.  Shell has been one of the few pleasant surprises this year for the Nats.

The Nats don't have a closer, nor a setup guy.  So they are giving guys chances.

And I didn't 44 wins, 82 losses was included in "the plan" before it turned August 20?!?!

And tonight we had a great chance to win. The rest of the week we are liable to get clobbered. This could be a longgggggggggggg losing streak.

It's understandable coming from eagleskins since he hailed Hanrahan as a beast in the same role.

my dad and i were at sunday's game and it was so fitting when i brought up the senators losing days, the rockies had just clobbered a 3-run homer.  he said sure the senators went through a lot of these types of streaks, but obviously he hadn't seen anything like this in a while.

What good is Manning as a "lefty specialist" if he can't get lefties out consistently?

Maybe if our offense had put the game away when they had the chance against Blanton this game would be long over. Our offense makes me want to hurl.

Also, what happened to the bullpen we used to have? Our BP that we are so used to being a strength over the years is now a gigantic weakness. I think this is why they are trying to convert Estrada and Mock into relievers.

We lost all of our quality arms to trades and injuries.

Our offense sucks and that's why I say we need to go after a Matt Holliday or stud bat.  But I sound like a broken record as we all know why that won't happen.

Patience my young padawan. In two weeks football will be right about to begin and this nightmare will be a distant, albeit disturbing, memory.

I don't think we've gotten even a hit off him all year.

EB 0/5. He has had FAR too many of these type of nights where he does not get on base or make solid contact. Have to move him out of the 1 spot.

God we freaking suck. Shell is minor league garbage. 11 Losses in a row. 6 More and we'll have twice as many losses as we do wins.

I can't wait to hear the reports of a quiet clubhouse and quotes like "we'll go get them tomorrow."  And for the Lerner/Bowden supporters on here saying it's all part of the plan!

Boner is basically a future 8-hole hitter.
