why did manny put rauch in at 8th. leave langerhans there and put rauch in milledge's spot, a full 9 batters down the line. now our pitcher's spot comes up 4th this inning with no bench players, right?

5th.

It's always someone in our bullpen that screws up.

And at 6'11, Rauch has the largest strike zone in the history of baseball.

Michaels doubled to left, Gomez scored.

Nationals 5
Pirates 7

and another intentional walk.  Frank Robinson would be proud.

So who is going to get the blame for this game? The offense? Acta? I'm sure Bergmann will get his usual excuses from the usual parties to save his ass.

wouldnt 9th be better? plus you would get a superior defender our there in langerhans. the only reason to keep milledge in there is if you have no faith in rauch and expect us to need 3 or 4 more runs

Yeah, I agree. I thought bringing Harris in to pinch-run was fine at first, but I didn't know he was the last guy off the bench at the time.

What makes you think anyone will make excuses for Bergmann?  I've seen none thus far.

:bball:  sucked balls today. The offense should've scored more off the bum the pirates had on the mound and they stranded too many runners. We also had some terrible luck when Nieves' drive hit the edge of the wall and missed being a 2-run blast by 3", with the pitcher up next that opportunity was squandered. Also, Dukes made a stupid base running error and got thrown out at second to end an inning while Guzman was on 3rd.

He swung at bull**** in that at bat and dug himself a hole but you're another AZ except your wood is for Milledge so whatever.

Wow total insult there.  I'm just calling a good ballplayer when I see it.  How can you dispute with his bb/k ratio in recent weeks?

It took 7 pitches to get him out unlike a Felipe Lopez just one pitch.

It's crazy to me that in about 90% of the games that our offense actually does something, our pitching doesn't show up. And vice versa.

OK I'll withdraw the insult. It was a bit much and likely unwarranted but Milledge was horrible in that at bat because he swung at an awful first pitch and dug a hole for himself.

1st   Ryan Doumit (9) 2 run shot to right off Bergmann, Sanchez scored.

I'm all for putting Randy St. Claire under the hot lights.  No plan to deal with Doumit AGAIN?  We are 3rd worst in MLB in giving up HRs and pushing towards the worst in other pitching categories.  The bloom is off the rose.

That was inevitable w/ the way he was swinging at the rest of the pitches. He was under everything.

Another series loss   We're disgusting. The Mariners probably can't wait to see us in their stadium.
