I wonder if he still feels the same. Atlanta is a great place for MLB players. They're in the hunt every year without all the BS of Bahsten & N'ywork.

True. It's definitely not a guarantee that he goes to Baltimore, but he's always seemed like the family first type.

I need to clarify about Tex's wife. I know she's from Georgia and went to Tech but I don't know if she's from the Atlanta area.

Well, my top 4 off that list would be Crawford, Furcal, Harden and Sheets.  Burnett wouldn't be a bad option either.  I'd love to have Crawford, I'm sure Tampa will pick up that option though, he really makes that offense of theirs go.
Furcal is the only one who gets a look, but I have a feeling he will cost WAY TOO MUCH

That can be said about anyone worth getting, though. We NEED to get at least one.

Pitchers are risky but I think Sabathia would look good in a Nats uni. I get the idea that C.C. would love to get more AB's.

I also get an idea he would demand Zito type money for Zito like years, and I think he will sort of fall apart, but still be a #3 pitcher on a great team.

Another long shot power hitting option would be Burrell. He's going to be asking for $15M+, though.

We should build like the A's...Plate Discipline=Walks and few K's...Good Defense and Pitching and if you have 7 guys who can get one base and you have 2 power hitters even if that is just 85 RBI you will win alot.

Man, if Rocco Baldelli had a healthier past, he'd be an awesome pick-up for us. I'm sure he'll be one of the cheaper free agent outfielders.

I still think Burrell might be the best fit here. If we can somehow unload Kearns and his contract in the offseason, Burrell (or anyone else for that matter) wouldn't seem so expensive.

Fat chance.  Our best hope for Kearns is that what we've seen since getting him is due to injury and not a deficiency in talent, and that once he's fixed he'll perform at the level Bowden thought he would.

But I'd love to have Burrell.

The way the Brewers are pitching him this year (definitely getting their money's worth), I could see him really breaking down next year.

I actually think it is more likely we get a guy like a Tex then a Burrel- neither will make us competitive, but from a business and pr stand point one will sell seats and keep people interested.

More importantly, he'd make us better.

I'd say Tex would make us a better team and sell tickets. I say we sign him to a lengthy deal and just build around him and Zim.
