Commentating is lo duca's true calling...
« on: May 29, 2008, 01:20:54 am »
because flores is the PRESENT and the FUTURE. he's our own version of mccann and martin. he continues to amaze coming through in the clutch and his overall hitting is incredible. his defense goes without mention, he's like a veteran behind the plate. way beyond his years.

BASEBALL WORLD: GET FAMILIAR WITH JESUS FLORES. HE'S GONNA TAKE THE LEAGUE BY STORM.

i won't declare flores the best young catcher in baseball just yet, but he's def the best UP AND COMING catcher in baseball. Paulie has two choices when he comes off the dl, either return to commentating which he seems to enjoy so much or settle for being flores backup.

and i know that i am a LITTLE late on the jesus worshiping but whatever. flores performance has made it clear that he should remain the starter upon lo duca's unfortunate but inevitable return. manny has no choice. flores is ready to take over.

Well ive always assumed Flores will be our future from seeing how well he could do last year. I remember stating that Lo Duca should just get signed by MASN before he even went in the box, just because how much he likes to get interviewed and basically he is the "spokesperson".

Flores is going to be a good talent that i hope keeps getting better and better

I agree.   It's damn good thing that LoDuca only signed for one year-- even Jackass Jimmy Bowden will be able to eat the sunk cost of LoDuca's contract and leave Flores in at catcher when LoDuca comes back....he will, won't he?....

I would like to see LoDuca somehow get himself back into form in time to trade hime and get something for the $5 million we threw at him.   But Flores has looked so good that I agree   he is the new and permanent Nats starting catcher.

I dont know how you are going to trade Loduca if Jesus the starter.  I dont think that what we could get for Loduca in a best case is worth the risk of having an inferior catcher for the time it takes to trade him though.

I actually thought Loduca was pretty good last night.  Maybe just because it was something different though.

Maybe we can keep him in the booth.  Have MASN renew Bob's contract this year, Don has one more left and let him go when done and put Paul in there next year for a long term contract to eventually make it Bob & Paul up there.

Do you really like him in the booth? I think he's mediocre at best.

Do I really like which one?  Bob or Paul?  I really like both.

  hee hee!  you're funny.  Yeah, I've enjoyed listening to Paul.  Don is super knowledgeable about the game, but he's a bit lofty for my likes.  There's no chemistry between him and Bob.  I'd like to see how Paul could work with him.

You do realize that if Lo Duca were going to replace anyone in the booth, it would more likely be Bob than Don.  At least from what I know.

Yeah, I know.  I'd really rather keep Bob and let smarmy go bye bye.

Kim -- Do you like Ray Knight?   He is my absolute favorite, I want him in the booth. I have mixed feelings about Don Sutton.  Great insight and knowledge, not much personality.

Seriously though, what is there to like about Paul Lo Duca?

I LOVE Ray Knight!!  Met him & Johnny Holliday after one of the games last year after they finished their broadcast.  Classy top-notch guys.  Knight even signed Andrew's hat!  I love the insight and perception he brings to the broadcast.  But I kinda doubt he'll take a booth job given the amount of travel it will require.  (Amen about the Don comments)

At least Lo Duca can comment from the inside on what he knows about certain teamates and such.  Kind of an inside scoop!

Yes, but how much mileage can he get on that. It would get rather old after a month or so.

As a catcher, he can have some insight into pitching.  I mean Rick Dempsey does it for the O's.  He's a former catcher.

I think Lo Duca's great in the booth. He's a smart dude.

He's going to play again, but it will probably be on another team. We do need to start him a couple of times to show teams that he's healthy, though.

Paul Lo Duca should either stay Nats commentator or go into pro wrestling announcing.

Its not going to help to play him if he hits like he did before he got hurt.  I think it is just a lost cause and for the sake of those who took the over on the Nats, it would be best if Flores stayed starter until he gets cold or something.  For the long term interest of the Nats it might be best to sacrifice some games in the hopes that Loduca showcases himself and can get us a prospect (probably nothing specacular unless he hits like .300 with power, but I guess any is better than none)

let's hold off on the mccann/martin comparisons for now. Jesus is not in the same ballpark as those guys until he can prove he can maintain this. I don't see him having the power potential as mccann either. He's played 19games this year, 61 at bats, that's an extremely SMALL sample. Bowden screwed up because Flores is and was ready this year. Everyone in the majors knew lo duca was washed up, except our GM. But what's 5 mill these days, can't even get you a hamburger at mcds anymore.

No way Lo Duca even sniffs .300 let alone hits for any power what so ever unless he gets back on the juice

I too like Ray Knight as a person and I respect what he did in baseball....but Dear God I cannot STAND him as a broadcaster.  He has a world-class case of Joe Theisman Disease--- can't speak two sentences without one of them being  "Back when I was the greatest player of all time....."  He knows baseball inside and out, he just can't get it out of his mouth on the air.
