I love how you took a guy who has been injured all season, comes back for a few games, is hitting .250, his mentorship and leadership obviously has done jack crap, and turn him into a .333 hitter with one game stats. Might as well make AZ happy and overblow Dukes the same way.

Sigh...it's aggravation from tonight's game boiling over. I'm going to cool it.

You first referenced that night's game as being a bad game for Young.  Ronny pointed out that Dmitri had a good night, and you accuse him of just focusing on one game?

Again,

I don't get why Dmitri's 300 lb .192 average and crappy defense justify him starting over .313 hitting Boone. I don't get it at all.

Again, I'm thinking the bigger picture, meaning the rest of this season. If you think Fats is going to put up those career numbers like he did last year, your kool aid has been spiked.

But you can go ahead and turn him into a worldbeater based off one game. I don't mind.

Besides, that was a bad night.

Boone starts, we win.

2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs for Aaron.

Boone should be starting over Young.

ideally, I'd have liked to see perhaps a younger 1B prospect given a shot, but seeing that Boone and Young are all we got, my vote goes to Boone starting.

Dmitri had a HUGE hit today too, but that was coming off the bench. I think Boone would be ideal starting while NJ is hurt and Dmitri would remain a huge bat coming off the bench.

I'd agree with this, that Dmitri is a better asset coming off the bench, than as a full-time starter.

I said it way back on May 15, and I'll say it again:

Quote
The way Boone has been playing lately, I say start him at first until he proves he can't do it.  Dmitri can come off the bench.   Stick Boone in the lineup & make it his job to lose.  Bring Dmitri off the bench as a pinch-hitter.

Boone and Guzman are the only two players in our lineup that even resemble major league hitters right now.  (OK,  Flores does too, but I want to see him keep it going for another week before I count him in).   Zimmy's slowly but surely coming back to form, but how do you not play this guy:

Boone   23-for-71   .324 (3rd on the team)     OBP .400 (2nd on the team)   SLG  .563  (first on the team).

I don't care what Dmitri's making this year-- that is a sunk cost that has no bearing on the team's ability to compete and win games.   Stick Boone in the lineup every day and play him until he proves he can't hack it.

I agree with this as well.

Young seems to be a good influence on the younger players -- Milledge alluded to this in his post-game interview -- which is fine. I'd just prefer him to be that good influence as a pinch hitter rather than as a starter.
