I find it hilarious/ridiculous that no matter what happens, people on this board just love to criticize somebody. Recently it was Zimmerman, and rightly so, but as soon as he nails a few homers everybody looked for the next target. Funny how there was no threads about player x sucking when he hit a winning streak, then we lose a few very close, tough ball games on the road and all people want to do is sit and moan and ***** again.

Get over it, he's young, shown flashes of talent and potential, but he isn't there yet, just like our team. Quit moaning and just get over it/yourself.

some fire out of EmpireNat- good stuff!

He's way, way off base.  I knew all along during Zim's struggle that he would get it together. It was terribly frustrating to see him get off to another poor start but he is just too good of a hitter for it to continue.  He is drilling the ball now all of the park while still playing great defense.

The thread title might be a little harsh but the fact is that Milledge has not lived up to the bill.  He has not hit for power. He has not shown any patience whatsoever. He has not shown speed or any ability to run the bases at all.  His defense has been shaky at best too.

^ Yet he's still hitting .256. I was far more surprised and pissed at Zimmerman's performance during his slump. We can't even call what Milledge is going through a "slump" at this point. Not even a "power slump," unless you base that off of ST only. He'll hit homers. There's no doubt about that. How many? We'll see by the end of the season. Then we can base future seasons' expectations off of that.

He's on pace for 5. He hasn't hit a bomb in 32 games.

Sheesh, I guess I shouldn't call out the poor performances of any players any more.  I forgot we were playing little league baseball where players should only be praised no matter how bad or good they do.

There's nothing wrong w/ calling out poor performances. It's just that calling the guy "awful" is going a bit too far.

And don't believe too much in the "pace" numbers right now. Just look at how quickly Zimmerman's pace changed. It's just too early.

Except he should take a few more pitches from the 2 slot.

Alright I changed the thread title. Awful was a bit too harsh of a word at this point.

Oh for Pete's sake, he has been awful. Of course he can get better, but so can greenhouse warming I guess.

Awful.

Right.  .256 puts him among the team leaders, doesn't it?    :-[    :bang:

Man, if your blog was a baseball player, it'd be "awful" by your standards. You have a lot of AB's, but have very few homers. You do "steal" some, so you do have that on Milledge. Well, maybe you don't. You do get caught stealing. Actually, you tell people you're stealing, so you give yourself no chance. You do bring it home sometimes, though.

It could be better, so it's awful.

(This was a joke, btw. I just had to. :D)

If we are going to start sounding out poor performances, judging off this season, lets have a thread for every damn player not named Guzman or Lannan, although there have been times when they haven't looked perfect, because they aren't.

Regarding Milledge, out of regular starters, only Guzman and Lopez (although he hasn't started throughout) have a better average, so why call him out for being awful when a majority of players around him are doing much worse hitting-wise?

because they all want Superstar Church back now that he's hit better in the past month than he's ever hit in his entire professional career. *shrug*

The reality is that he has been awful but not so awful relative to some of our other 'performers'. Nevertheless, it's just a way to vent. It's especially sportsfan's classic way to vent. EmpireNat you'll get used to it

Church was pretty good for a little while last year also. Just give it time, like a set of knockers, the gravity of the season should knock them down a little.

OT: JMad, that quote in your sig is terrible. First off, it's freaked up. Second, look who you're quoting. And third, he was taken in the 6th round. :?

bah.  if it said Cowboys or Giants instead of redskins, nobody would have a problem with it.  and I've had this in my sig for a good while now and nobody said anything.

my whole point in putting it in my sig was that it was a retarded statement. i guess that habit carries over from another forum.   if it bothers you so much I'll take it down, no biggie.

no, nobody has said in exact words "I want Church Back".  but for a few in this thread, like Tom and others, the tone and sentiment is very clear.

Nah, if you want the sig, keep it. I was just letting you know what I thought about it. I had never noticed it before. No big deal here either.

Wow. You can turn a phrase. ;)

My fear is that this won't be true, and that we'll find out that players come here to devolve under inadequate coaching, and players leave to become better players.
