Ovechkin MVP or Not?

Interesting article on the argument for Oveckin's MVP status.  Stupid question, but should he be MVP even if they don't make the playoffs (but of course they will  :icon_mrgreen: )?

My answer: Oh, hell yeah.

x2

He'll get it for the 60+ goals alone.

Yes, is there anyone else even close? F Malkin.

F Malkin.

We should definitely make a bumper sticker out of that if somehow he does.

If we dont make the playoffs and he is MVP, I wont get any consolation out of that. And I dont think he would either.

If he doesnt win it this year, he'll get it some other time.

I wont be upset if he doesnt get MVP and we dont make the playoffs

Clearly we're bias...but AO is the obvious choice.

It's not biased.  I've always despised the argument that a player shouldn't get MVP if his team doesn't make the playoffs.  I thought David Wright should've gotten it last year over Jimmy Rollins - AO should get it over Malkin.

And don't forget that we have a top ROY candidate as well. Backstrom is the #2 star this year on our team.

football or baseball is one thing, but in a league where half the teams make the playoffs.  i dont care either way, but i can understand where people are coming from when they want to make the playoff requirement.

If there was any doubt before, it has to be completely eliminated with tonight's victory.  AO is MVP or the whole thing is a complete and utter farce.

Should.  And I say that over Kovalchuk.  But then again, playoffs can have a big impact on that kind of thing, even if the utter collapse at the end of the season was more of the whole teams fault than the potential mvp's (Thrashers)

They mailed it in as soon as Hossa got traded...the Thrashers' GM should get to carry this albatross.
