DC United just announced its fixture list (link: http://web.mlsnet.com/schedule/season.jsp?team=t103) - and of their 15 regular home matches in MLS, seven go up directly against Nationals home matches.

The conflict days:

Saturday 26th April - Nats vs Cubs (19.10), United vs Real Salt Lake (19.30)

Saturday 24th May - Nats vs Brewers (19.10), United vs Toronto FC (19.30)

Wednesday 4th June - Nats vs Cardinals (19.10), United vs Houston (19.30)

Sunday 22nd June - Nats vs Rangers (13.35), United vs San Jose (15.00)

Sunday 29th June - United vs LA and David Beckham (12.00), Nats vs Orioles (13.35)

Saturday 2nd August - Nats vs Reds (19.10), United vs Kansas City (19.30)

Saturday 30th August - Nats vs Braves (19.10), United vs Red Bull New York (19.30)

Fortunately on two of those days (the fourth and fifth pairings above) there's enough of a difference in start times that I'll be able to see at least parts of both matches...but between the Nats, DC United, the Mystics, the Redskins (schedule normally comes out in April) and possible playoffs for the Capitals and Wizards, I'm going to have some real schedule resolution to do. Normally I opt in favour of whichever teams play fewer matches, but this time I don't think it'll be that simple (too many Nats matches missed!).

But that's just my Six-Pack life...what could turn into a real problem for a lot of Nats supporters is the parking situation, assuming the Nats shuttle from RFK becomes a reality. DC United season ticket holders (full- and half-season) get discounted parking at RFK, to say nothing of the non-STH fans who combine to produce attendance in about the 17,000-22,000 range (it'll probably be a lot more when LA is visiting - New York is also a big draw)...combine that with the Nats (especially against a big draw like the Cubs or the Orioles) and it could be a real mess.

It is pretty cool that two local pro sports teams can play at home on the same day now.

How many united home games are there on weekends when the Nats dont play?

They have obvioulsy been able to work around each others schedules in the past, I dont know why they couldnt do it now.

Why make people have to choose? Both teams could use the attendance

I'm assuming there will also be weekends when neither is here right?

I'm sorry I'm too lazy to look (looked up a lot of stuff for a livan post I just made), nobody has to answer if they dont want to

How many united home games are there on weekends when the Nats dont play?[...]

Saturday 5th April - United vs Toronto (home opener); Nats away to Cardinals

Saturday 14th June - United vs Red Bull New York; Nats away to Mariners

Saturday 23rd August - United vs Colorado; Nats away to Cubs

Saturday 13th September - United vs Dallas; Nats away to Marlins

United also have two home matches after baseball season ends, and also two Thursdays when they are home while the Nats are on the road

I'm uninformed.  Do they share stadiums?

They did when we were at RFK, but not anymore. OldChelsea was asking which team people would choose when both are playing at the same time.

ok, this talk is really getting me stoked for the beginning of the season!  I don't think that we'll be able to go to ST given my latest major project (  ;)  I've got all the sigs I need folks!  But still going for more just in case.)  But I CANNOT WAIT for Opening Day!  I am so going to be there, come hell or high water!  GOOOOOO NATS!!!!!!!!  I can just smell the grass and hot dogs, hear the vendors, the ump yelling play ball, the crack of the bat, the smack of the ball in the mitt.  I'm feeling the butterflies in my stomach with the anticipation of the new season in the new stadium!!  GOSH!  I am sooooo excited!!

I just know we have more demand than available tickets.  Anybody who can get them from another source should do so to assure they get them.

Dang...........

You ain't kiddin'!  Nats aren't selling indiv. tix yet.  AND none on Craigslist or Ebay.  At least none that are affordable.  There are a few on Ebay, but go from 475.00-2k!!!

Yes, my husband is in the hunt, too, and sort of blanched at those prices. At least we get the ticket for the Saturday exhibition game against the Orioles; our ticket partner has already called dibs on the opener.
