they have to be careful. they are walking a fine line between making a pretzel and something that resembles a turd.  we've been conditioned to recognize the normal pretzel shape as food.  most other things of that color and diameter resemble turds

It did look like one of those fake dog poop gags when I first saw it on the blog. But that is likely do (or doo) to the picture. In person, I expect them to look more appetizing. I assume they are delicious (especially with Stadium Mustard.)

Another review from Tim Lemke's sports blog on the Times site:

- The Nationals were kind enough to give us some lunch, including a soft pretzel shaped like a "W." As a Philly-area native, I am kind of snobbish when it comes to soft pretzels. These passed the test. Buttery. Salty. Soft. Very tasty.

Svrluga comments on pretzel logic:

"Some of you have noted some of this -- and at some point, I'll get you some more pics, though nothing terribly exciting -- but it's worth regurgitating here. (And speaking of regurgitating: I ate the Curly W pretzel, and it was quite good, and some of you have sick minds and I never thought of it as anything other than a pretzel, so shame on you.)"

This sort of talk reminds me of the picture that posed the question "What would Bill Clinton look like with a mustache?"  And since we are talking about a stadium in D.C., just a few days after Super Tuesday, I offer this:

My girlfriend is from Philly and loves their pretzels, particularly those from Wawa.  They are gross. They are "soft", not "hot" and generally are soggy.  I want a hot pretzel, not a soft one

Germantown Amish market - best pretzels I've ever had.

Just when I thought it was safe to look at the thread, there's the picture again. Just in time for lunch, too.  :spaz:

Edit: Luckily, I won't be having bratwurst. :)

It's never safe to look at any thread on this Board...But on the bright side, someone has done an outstanding job of paper training their dog.

No, there is usually a line waiting when they come out of the oven.  They set them on a rack to cool but serve them asap, dipping in butter before handing them to you (wrapped) still quite warm.  You don't have to have them dipped.

THey have regular pretzels, and stuffed ones with pepperoni, or sausage, or ham (each with cheese).

These Amish are driven down from Lancaster County Pa, so it's the real deal.
