He says his ankle is ok, his shoulder hurts?  Isn't that worse?

Oh, and one of the back up players for the Giants got arrested for DUI today.

Great way to start a Superbowl!

Giants - 28
Pats -21

By the way, what is everyone doing Superbowl Sunday!

NFL Pulls Plug On Big-Screen Church Parties For Super Bowl

By Jacqueline L. Salmon

For years, as many as 200 members of Immanuel Bible Church and their friends have gathered in the church's fellowship hall to watch the Super Bowl on its six-foot screen. The party featured hard hitting on the TV, plenty of food -- and prayer.

But this year, Immanuel's Super Bowl party is no more. After a crackdown by the National Football League on big-screen Super Bowl gatherings by churches, the Springfield church has sacked its event. Instead, church members will host parties in their homes.

Immanuel is among a number of churches in the Washington area and elsewhere that have been forced to use a new playbook to satisfy the NFL, which said that airing games at churches on large-screen TV sets violates the NFL copyright.

This is possibly the least excited I've been for a Super Bowl. Doesn't mean I'm not going to party and enjoy it, though. :D

I REALLY don't care who wins. I'm just hoping for a good game. Who knows, could be a classic.

I don't get too excited for Super Bowls. They are anticlimactic (unless the Redskins are in it :?). Once the conference championships are played the season is over for me. I'll watch the game but I don't watch all the hype. I won't even turn to the channel until kickoff. I try to time it so I miss all of the pregame hype. My best timing was when The Patriots played the Panthers and I turned to the channel just as the kicker was swinging his leg for the opening kickoff.

The NFL sells the rights (directly or otherwise) to display the game places that pay for them. It's incumbent upon the NFL to give some value to those to whom they sell the rights.

The headline is sort of unfair to the NFL: I'm sure if the Church wanted to pay the NFL for the right to broadcast, the NFL would gladly take their money.

It sounds like they are picking on churches, but I suspect that they'd pick every bit as hard at any other organization that was hosting such an event. Churches aren't special when it comes to interfering with Capitalism and protection of copyright.

It's all very strange; I've been rooting for the Patriots big time during the regular season, but now I have the urge to see the upset, at least during the playoffs.  When I really think about it, I almost feel like I'm part of the bandwagon for rooting for the Pats, and it doesn't mean much to me because I didn't follow the team when they sucked...

All things considered, I don't really know who I'll be rooting for on Sunday; probably depends on who I'm watching it with :?

So shouldn't the NFL be shutting down about every bar and sports bar across America?

200 people watching it in a smoke filled room with chicken wings or 200 people watching it with Jesus and Holy wafers.  I don't see much difference.

As stupid as it is, the bars probably have to pay someone for the right to broadcast it and churches don't.

However, if I was rich and had a huge TV room or home theater and wanted to invite friends over to watch, the NFL wouldn't object.  Just because you're using the church building instead of private homes, there's a difference?

Come to think of it, My Mom's old retirement community shows the game on a big movie screen in their auditorium every year for its residents and their families.  They have hotdogs and popcorn and hamburgers for dinner and have fun!  Of course its only "advertised" inside the complex.  Shhh.  Don't tell the NFL on them!

Who do the bars have to pay?  Its not like the SuperBowl is pay-per-view or you need a satellite to get it. Its accessible to nearly everyone who has a TV.  The bars just turn it on.

Its NFL bullcrap.

NOTLD is correct. The Super Bowl is not a pay-per-view event. It's on free network television (that's why they charge so much for commercial slots). Bars don't pay anyone for showing the game to their customers. But they do make money off the event because so many people show up at bars to 'watch' the game that normally don't even watch football and spend money there. The idea that they don't exceed the size of the screen is stupid considering how many televisions bars have available.

Can't you buy a big screen TV that's bigger than that now?

Like I said, not my house but I can see people with huge home theaters inviting a bunch of people over.

Its crazy!

When do they announce the HOF voting results? I'm rooting for Art this time.  Ol' #28 is a definite lock.

If the church wasn't advertising their party, they wouldn't have had an issue.

The NFL has an obligation to protect its trademark and copyrights, or it chances losing them. And part of making money on all those commercials is showing how many households are watching them.

Yes you can. I know people that have screens like that and have parties for pay-per-view fights

I guess the part that makes no sense to me is that bars are exempt by law.

Hey guys.  I never saw the Giants in white jerseys with RED lettering.  I would think it would be blue.  Is this an alternate jersey or something?

Steve Smith sucks.  Man things aren't going well for the Giants.  They need TDs to win this game.  They may hang around for a while but unless they start putting up points they will get blown out.

That's game.  The Giants are playing way too stupid to win this game.

The Giants D is incredible btw but I just don't know how NYG will score.
