Being in Montgomery county, and working near Baltimore, I for one would *love* to chip away at the Washington-suburb-Baltimore-fan-base. It's happening slowly, but it's happening. YOu definitely see more Nats hats than Orioles hats in Montgomery County. PG should be a natural for the Nats, at least as far north as Laurel. Further than that, though, and you're in Baltimore territory.

Personally, I think they are making a bigger deal out of this than it actually is.  These politicians are just looking to bite on something so they can chew.

But I can understand "some concern."  I mean, you are trying to develop a fan base and all IN DC.  Could you imagine the crapstorm in NY if the Yanks or Mets had their gala in New Jersey?

But logic and business sense also says to expand your horizons and attempt to gather more of a fan base in surrounding areas.  Hence, having events in Maryland and Virginia.  I mean come on, who here doesn't want to chip away at the Baltimore fan base and make a few conversions here and there?

Never say never. One of my daughter's teammate's mother was found guilty of embezelling from her job. Nicest woman you'd ever run into.

She's going to jail.

Advocating is fine, you're right.  And yes, stuff does happen in Richmond, but not to the extensive degree as it does in DC.  What happened in the DC tax dept. would never happen in VA.  In a week or so, I can expand on what I'm saying, but something else needs to occur first.

That's really sad!  I was just saying never because I'm sure that proper controls are likely in place in Richmond that did not exist in DC.

Hey, I'll tell you the tax theft that goes on in Richmond -- they take tax money from Northern Virginia that could be used to fix the fricking roads and distribute it to the hinterlands to keep their country butts in office.

But perhaps I'm ranting.

That's very possible. Reformers have a very difficult time in D.C. I'm hoping for the best from Fenty and those that he's surrounding himself with.

Hardly. I grew up in southeastern Virginia and notice how much more "spacious" the roads there are than NoVA's despite the lesser contribution to the tax base.

So, if we were to blow up the bridges across the Potomac, would we all be happier?  Most people in DC only go to Virginia for the airports, so it wouldn't be a huge loss for most people on this end (BWI will do).

Oh, and no one here minds the tax scandal...no, we employed, property-owning DC critters love paying the highest taxes in the country so some slag can buy furs at Nieman Marcus ALMOST as much as we enjoy having suburbanites crowing at us about our third world government.  That never gets old and tiresome.  Or shrill and annoying.  Or just plain dull.

What happened in the DC tax dept. would never happen in VA.

According to the FBI, of the 5 people arrested, only one lived in DC. 3 lived in Bowie,MD and the other Clinton,MD. I don't know whats worse having crooks as employees or neighbors.

If I were a D.C. taxpayer, it would be paying to support people living in the suburbs.

To me, the school rip offs that the Post has been reporting on are somehow worse than the tax theft.  But all of these make me sad -- the people who do the stealing don't seem to do it because they have an especially pressing need for the money.  It's not like they're having trouble getting by and steal the money to fend of a mortgage foreclosure.  Instead, they tend to spend it on luxury items.  They're stealing so they can have more consumerism than they can legitimately afford.  And they're stealing from poor people so they can do it.

this is just the DC Council whining for no reason.

it is a couple of events. EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY event does not have to take place in DC. DC is going to have more than its fair share of Team Events. most of them will take place in the stadium District.

if i understand correctly all the proceeds from this event are going to the city of DC, so imo it does not matter WHERE the event is staged, because contrary to the whining of ignorant politicians, DC is going to greatly benefit from it anyway.

this is just typical DC Politician Grandstanding, "whine because I want my name in the paper" crap.

These types of people are weak and pathetic swine who are worse than any terrorist.  They suck the life out of everyone, everything, and anything that is good about being in America.
