Manny should make a public request that that first base umpire not be in the crew tomorrow.  And by public, I mean PUBLIC!

Make a huge stink about it in his press conference after the game.

He's going to be behind the plate tomorrow calling balls and strikes.

That's why he should make the request tonight.

How dumb can you be, Felipe... 3-1 count and instead of trying to get the tying run to the plate he is swinging

Doesn't Rivera see how many times an opposing hitter swings and misses at one of his pitches in the zone?  There is no need for him to not throw strikes with as good as stuff as he has.

Maybe it's playing in Atlanta.  Bob just mentioned it and I was thinking about it in the 5th inning.

This team has had two of the worst series of the year, in Atlanta.

The only teams that we can beat are teams even worse than us like Florida, Cincinnati, S.F., and Houston.  Counting this loss tonight, we have lost 11 straight games against teams with a record above .500. At worst we should have won 3-4 of those 11 games.

It's too late to give pitchers "time off" now if they've been used too much in a season.

We have to get more innings out of our starters next year!

We won both series against St. Louis, the home series against Milwaukee.

Hell, we won 3 of 4, in a series, against Atlanta at RFK!

...we've been particularly awful in Atlanta this year.

And besides the upcoming series in Florida, the Nats finish with the top teams in the NL East.  Yay!

We have had a few glimpses of success against good teams but overall we are horrible against good teams:

VS Atlanta: 5-8 (counting tonight's disaster)
VS Philadelphia: 4-7
VS New York: 4-8

Overall 13-23 (.361) against the Braves/Phillies/Mets

This game...games like this is the most disappointing part of this season.  There have been too many games, this season, where we haven't even been competitive and there's no excuse for that.  They don't have to be as good as the other team to be competitive.

I'll bet the Nationals have the highest number of non-competitive losses as a percent of total losses than any team in the major leagues.

And non-competitiveness is a manager/coach issue.  :?
