using Metro and/or MARC trains. My son and his girlfriend are going this evening to the Zeroes game at Camden Yards with his cousins from Towson. Does anyone know where I take him...to the Metro station at Wheaton (Red line), then what?
Thanks for the help

edit- I think(?) I remember one of his cousins saying he needs to get to Union Station to get the MARC to Camden Yards....sound right??

I've not done the public transit to Baltimore thing myself, but I do seem to remember reading something like that at one point (re. Union Station). Was their team site not of any help in that regard?

Change in plans- I'm going to drive them and go to the game with them (please forgive me, oh gods of the Nationals). First Zeroes game at Camden Yards for me. Last Zeroes game I went to was the WS game against the Mets at old Memorial Stadium. I am looking forward to seeing the ballpark, though.

We will decide on a suitable penance and let you know... :)

Maybe this could be considered a reconnaissance mission?

Guilty confession: We went to a game there last year. My husband's boss gave him tix. The home run ball markers on the walkway next to the Warehouse are kinda cool, and there's an F-Robby plaque, too. Needless to say, I did not root for the home team (they were playing the Twins, which might have presented a problem for long-time Senators fans, but I didn't live in DC then).

Edit: Maybe you could give us a report on Wilky and Byrd, too, as they're playing the Rangers, I think.

its ok to go to O's games as long as you buy tickets off scalpers.  Peter already got that money, no need to give him more by buying at the box office. also buy you drinks and peanuts outside. the bbq is good, but those true to the cause avoid it

Over-rated.

IMHO, PNC Park and Citizens Bank park, and even the SkyDome really, are superior. I just didn't like it all that much, and there's not much cover for when it rains.

Having said my piece, hope you really enjoy the game, and that the "lowly" Rangers beat the O's.

I don't know if you got help getting directions to OPACY saltydad but if you needed directions HOME all you had to do was ask the Rangers. They found their way home 30 times in the first game alone!

Buy from a scalper?  That doesn't make sense.  It had to be bought from the Orioles somewhere along the line or its NOT A VALID TICKET.  It doesn't make any difference how many times it changes hands, the money originally went to the Orioles.  Actually they have a "Scalp free zone" where you can buy tickets at cost or less.  Why pay more by going to a scalper?

Peanuts and stuff is always cheaper on the outside, even at RFK.  Boog's BBQ is good though!  Boog will sometimes be there to sign autographs.

By the way, for future reference.  You can take the MARC train up to a game but you have to get a bus back somehow.  Catch it at Greenbelt.  They stopped having trains leaving the game years ago.  Amtrack or whatever wanted to be able to run their freight trains late at night, so there's only a train up but not back.  I think if you go to the MTA site, you'll get more details.

He meant buy a ticket that has already been paid for instead of buying ANOTHER ticket that could very well go unsold...

Go to the no scalp zone and you'll be buying it from someone else at cost or less.

for any half full sporting event you can buy tickets for less than face from scalpers

Can't wait to hear Salty's game report! I believe they said on the radio that Byrd and Saltalamacchia each sliced a grand salami... :)

Thanks all. We went to the 2nd game, and got there just as folks (looking very downtrodden) were leaving. One man even siad to me "You just coming? You missed history my friend, unfortunately". I was wearing my blue Nationals t-shirt and my red Curly W hat. Only got one snide comment from someone in the stands, but he then redeemed himself by saying that he has worked with the Lerner family, they are first rate, and that the Nationals should win their division within a few years! Another fan apologized to me for the first ones comments (she was an Os and a Yankees fan!). All in all, I was VERY surprised at how friendly everyone was. The park is nice; it seems so small when you're coming from RFK. We had excellent seats ($15) in the upper leverl immediately over home plate. We then moved to left field lower just foul of the foul pole to meet my nephews. Great sightlines wherever we were.I was upset to have missed the historical 30-3 drubbing the Zeroes took. Wilky had a so so evening from what I saw. We had to leave in the 7th inning, just after the Zeroes took the lead, so that cut short my recon mission. A beer was $6 for Bud light, $6.50 for Guinness (thank g-d they had Guinness). All in all, a surprisingly nice evening, that left me panting for our new park!

edit- I had prepared a large dinner of a couple of pounds of marinated skrt steaks for the bbq before we left, so didn't partake of the bbq at the park, although I did come in the Eutaw Street entrance. Also, probably due to the fact this was the 2nd game of a double header, I was able to park in lot B free! Wouldn't that be nice at new Nationals Park? :)

I could not believe the scores I was reading in the gameday thread and was laughing my head off.  Dan's family have always been O fans.  He's the only smart one who's converted from the dark side!  He could not stop laughing as the score counts kept ticking up!  We called his brother after the game and laughed together, he said he sat there and watched the runs rack up and counted them, 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 and was gosh, this is insane and then he counted up to 30!  Chief's man-rape comment had them both doubled over, too!  The O's board and Dan's brother couldn't understand why they didn't start plunking the Rangers!  TOO FUNNY!  Evidently they gave up the most runs in one game since 1900.  It literally broke a record!  I'm still chucklin'!  This should make our 14-0 loss (or whatever that awful score was) MUCH less painful!!!
