I don't know how good of a hitting coach Lenny Harris is, but really, he wasn't a very good hitter AT ALL.

Hey ronnynat but a lot of hitting coaches are guys that never were recognized as great hitters.

I'm confused by the Mets hire of Rickey Henderson as hitting coach. They need more HR power right?

Nice attendance here for a day game. Dmitri rules.

For tomterp, I just saw a replay of Church's line drive double and it actually traveled closer to 270'.

Bergmann is the only starter we have who can strike out hitters like a real power pitcher, just dominate them (on occasion).  I'm not trying to re-ignite that Bergmann argument thread, but he does have a lot of ability.

Oh, I know. My problem is that they always have to mention his pinch-hitting abilities when talking about him. I'm just hoping that's not why we keep him around. I'm as upset as anyone about how the offense has been.

Yeah I hear you. If he had been that good some team would've kept him around in the AL as a DH.

That thread was preposterous.  Bergmann has been very solid this year and I think he is a lock for a spot in the rotation next year.  His opp. batting average against led the league at one point

I'm pretty sure this can be said of a lot of the guys at this level. He just can't seem to get it together with any consistency. I think when he gets hit hard he reverts to being afraid of the strike zone and it gets him in even more trouble.
