Now that's optimism.
Okay, so let me get this straight. Escobar's first start will be on Friday the 13th? Should a sacrifice be made to Jobu or some such?
Screw the people that have given up on Nook. I still support him 100%, and the only player i would be in favor of replacing Nook is Andruw Jones (next year). It also doesn't make sense that Alex would be playing in Columbus tonight when the team is probably boarding for their flight to Florida. I will be surprised to say the least if he is starting for us Friday.
You support Nook 100 % even though he's, far and away, the worst player we've had play at least 50 games at one of the 8 starting positions?Okay. Continue to drive that lonely bandwagon, for whatever reason. I'll be laughing when Nook leaves this team off waivers.Oh, wait, that would imply that another team would actually want his sorry ass. I hope he likes Columbus in the summer.
MIAMI -- Outfielder Alex Escobar is expected to play a few games for Triple-A Columbus before being called up to the big leagues. Manager Manny Acta said there is nothing wrong with Escobar's health.Escobar started in center field against Charlotte on Thursday and went 0-for-5 in his first game for Columbus. Escobar has already played five games for Double-A Harrisburg and was 3-for-16 (.188) with an RBI.According to Acta, Escobar will most likely be in left field once he returns to the big-league club, while Ryan Church will move over to center. Church did a good job in center when Nook Logan missed more than a month because of a left foot injury. In fact, the team feels, according to general manager Jim Bowden, that Escobar needs more at-bats before he is called up.Escobar's presence also means that the Logan/Ryan Langerhans platoon will be over. Escobar has yet to play a Major League game this season because of shoulder and ankle problems.
And whoever said Andruw Jones would be a better option is smoking something. Jones is a strikeout machine.
If you think that Andruw Jones is worse than Nook Logan, you're smoking EVERYTHING. Now, when the money comes into play, I agree, he isn't worth it.
It isnt a matter of "giving up" on His Nookness. I told people he was not the answer from the get go. When will people realize that speed is not the ONLY thing that matters in the outfield? This is the third year in a row of this.
Third year in a row? You mean third year in a row in Washington, but then maybe what happened with this team before it moved to Washington doesn't count. Truth is, this team hasn't had a real center fielder since Marquis Grissom played the position in 1994, and that was 14 years ago.I sure hope NOTLD doesn't get too upset with me for bringing up the team's past, AGAIN.
Its okay, Ken. I understand.
We dont even know what jones is gonna get paid with the season he is having
