Got to be the socks!

Ryan Zimmerman went 2-for-4 today with a homer and a pair of RBI's to be very much in the mix for today's 7-2 win...all while wearing those high-cut socks.

I don't have any long-time documented record to back it up, but it seems every time he goes 'old-school' with those high socks he either homers or delivers some big crunchtime RBI or something of that sort (and when he doesn't, it seems the opposition pitchers invariably have his number). The old-school fashion trend, I think, should be encouraged.

Damn, I made a thread like this months ago mentioning the "power of the socks" and who likes them up or down.

I love it when this team wears their socks "old school" and sport the black ADIDAS shoes with white stripes.  Very fashionable.

NJ I believe sports this look often as well.  The whole team should go for it!

I like the old school high stocking look. I didn't see today's game (just heard it on radio), but I was remarking to my husband while we were watching on Saturday that Zimmy and F-Lopez were both sporting that look on the 4th of July and we won then. Nick always wore them and Jamey Carroll sometimes did. Also some of our pitchers. After Nick broke his leg they were all wearing them for one game. Fick has the stirrup socks.

Nike > Adidas. On the fashion side, i like the long pants that Zimmerman sports. Zimmerman doesn't rock the high sock look well. However, I will take homers and RBI over looking cool any day. Then again, I'm not the superstitious type so I don't think the socks matter.

On another related topic: I wonder what makes Zimmerman wear either style? Some games he wears the long pants and others he wears the long socks. I guess we'll never know. He needs to  stick with one style. I pay attention to these kinds of things.

I remember last year Zimmerman sported Air Jordan Cleats for a spurt late in the season. They were A-MA-ZING. He looked fly. I love Jordan's (own over 40 pairs) and when i saw Zimmerman wearing Jordan cleats i was emphatically excited. That is why my name is Air Zimmerman. He needs to go back to wearing the Jordan cleats!

That's the way it goes nowadays. My nephew has tons of shoes but I doubt it's over 30 pairs.

I believe Zimmerman wears the high socks when they wear the red home jerseys but I could be wrong.

It is actually not uncommon for these guys (even if they are not overly superstitious) to switch up the socks to change their mojo.  It goes along with shaving/not shaving etc. Some of these guys seem to switch stuff up every now and then for that, and Zimmerman is one of them.

I also figure that in this case, there are a couple of other reasons. With the Sunday red shirts, they may feel that the red sox work well with it, and of course, in the heat, it is probably more confortable. (I always thought it was more comfortable with the sox up anyway.)

Tonight: 2-for-4 with two runs scored, was on base for Young's game-winning shot...while wearing the old-school socks...it still seems to work at home.
