Wanted Group opinions on this: ticket prices & revenues
« on: May 12, 2025, 04:22:17 pm »
MLB Released Teams Average Ticket Prices Among MLB  Stadiums.

New York Yankees $67.75
Houston Astros     $64.29
Cubs Wrigley        $64.29
Dodgers               $55.24
Nationals             $46.02

Pittsburg at the bottom at $24. and change

I not sure if ticket money is going back into the team or even being spent wisely on player development by management. Also Spring training seats are higher than regular season tickets. Future spring training tickets may be for following Nats on the road.

I just wanted to hear what fan opinions are

My guess is that the Nats have seen a big decline in the # of season ticket holders in recent years compared to those other clubs. I assume more tickets go unsold for Nats games than for the other clubs.

TY but if that's is the case maybe they should lower them and go for Volume sales, make more through extra concessions and bringing in more marginal or new fans. Every team offers complementary ticket.  I have the package and stream most games live 4-5 games at a time and seen ticket prices of $9 or lower.  Also the Yanks, Dodgers and Cubs (even in a small stadium) put out a much better quality product. Astro's have recent rings to back them up Clearly spending money to make money on field. Nats draw for Promos like Harry Potter 37+k and bobble heads so people with money are around. A star player or two might open wallets on a more consistent basis.

What that shows is the gap between the top 3 teams and the Nats is just about the same as the gap between the Nats and the bottom team - about $20.

The price structure for the Nats is way out of whack. they jacked things up I think in after 2019. They spruced up the Club areas around then, maybe around 2022. They may have been anticipating a bigger payout from the World Series in terms of attendance. Instead, they over-priced themselves, and as credits and the like started to wear off, the SPH dived, I think. I know my group had to drop 2 of our full season tickets, and the only reason we can make it work is the unlimited exchanges. They had to bring back red carpet tickets, too, so that $46 probably doesn't reflect given away tickets.

Issue is the Nats high end seats, which usually get renewed by lawyers, lobbyists, and Itkins, are much more expensive that most other parks.  Baltimore, for example, has nothing that compares to Terra Club.  Even the behind-the-net seats 20 rows up are far less expensive in San Francisco.
