5 years into this build we shouldn’t suck this bad. We will never win again under Martinez. It was a lightening in a bottle situation and we’ve sucked with him outside of that. All the excuses in the world made by this fanbase and the guy has made the playoffs one time in 8 years. Having Martinez as manager for life is like Chinese torture.

He proves it over and over again, but firing him now would require Mini Me to pay another manager for part of the season, things will have to get much worse for him to resort to what is a "nightmare scenario" given his passion for pennies

Except when given an owner willing to win, he's been a playoff team

Been saying all along this wasn't a "build, rebuild, or reboot" of any kind, but just whipped cream on top of a salary dump.  But it's made worse by all the poor drafts, play-the-contract lineups, carelessness on the field, hiring inept friends to coach, and general org dysfunction. No team keeps a GM and manager around for a 6th straight losing season.  The Royals came close but fired their WS winning GM and started winning.  I'd add that the '12 resurgence of this team came after Jim Riggleman was fired and Davey Johnson had his first full year here.

AppleTV is easily the best video quality and graphics of any broadcast

Rutledge has nasty stuff.

Now, let’s talk about the bad stuff.

Why can’t this team ever just do a true youth movement?   Guys like Bell and Rosario should not be starting over Tena and Call.  Ever.   Drives me absolutely crazy

the reboot didn't start in earnest until we traded schwarber in 2021, they went all in after trading Soto in 2022. This is arguably year 3.

Is this the first time Fedde has gone 7 shutout innings in Nats Park?

I miss the running box score from Nats games on MASN, which also links each player to their age, record by year, and everything else.

I would say the "reboot " was 2021 when they traded for mostly mlb ready guys with lower ceilings. That was the time Rizzo used the reboot not rebuild line. 2022 and the Soto trade was the start of the rebuild.

Definitely, good chance to extend the bullpen's league lead in plunking batters

We've discussed this millions of times, it was a salary dump regardless of what language Rizzo was using to cover for Mini Me's refusal to spend.  A true rebuild would not have included asking the Dodgers to take one of Max's $15m deferral payments, it would have gotten more value back in players.  The number of fans who fell for Rizzo's PR was concerning, but their numbers have dwindled.

The only better spot would be a seat on the next flight to Rochester.

Sims needs to go.  Now.

He’ll probably get two easy outs and then give up the dinger.

With a 7.20 ERA, bullpen just needs to average less than 8/10ths of an earned run per inning to lower the average.  They've given up 3 today, so 1 more ER this game and bullpen ERA won't rise!

Which are we more likely to see?
Wild pitch to score a run - check
Bases loaded walk - check
Home run

This is a different vibe from Game 1 of the 2019 NLCS.
