Can Finny Pitch in Game 2?

After 19 pitches and collecting his 100th save, Do you think Finnigan will be able to be pitch in game 2 if needed after a couple of hours cool off?

Tough call. Knowing how ballplayers are, he will tell Davey he's available. I think they shouldn't push it, but basically their top 4 relievers all worked the day game. Chafin might be available, but it will likely be Rutledge for 2 innings and Henry, with Sims maybe in the mid innings for 1.

I think he goes if there’s a save opportunity

This overly optimistic cart-before-the-horse post was a terrible jinx.   Not only have we lost every single game since, but Finny hasn't even got a save opportunity since this was posted.   I know the Nats shouldn't be so fragile to let a little thing like this derail their almost-above-middling season, but they are what they are.

This was obviously an affront to the baseball gods.

I wonder how much they are trying not to burn him out before the deadline.

well, by the way they are playing, they certainly aren't needing him 3 days in a row like they tried earlier this year.

Outside of the young players still making close to league minimum, he's one of the few tradeable pieces they have.
