if the intent is to be good next year, then I can see keeping Lowe, but otherwise, the fellow is going to be worth more than a lefty set up guy at the trade deadline.

Extend Lowe and don't worry about finding a "1B of the future". Of course, it was not great that the Nats challenged Lowe's salary this off-season.
