If I were to pick a religion it would be RC just for the theatre...dudes in full regalia swinging incense are way more interesting than unitarian pancake dinners  :P

Didn't George Costanza say it was the hats as his reason for wanting to become Latvian Orthodox?
I believe so.  A wise man.

Leo XIV is probably more of a deep dish guy.

Chicago getting a Pope before a 4000 years passer.  Who had that on their bingo card?

He's from the Southside...so kinda doubt he likes either deep-dish or the Cubs...

Sounds like a divided loyalty family from what I have read.  But we do know he graduated from Villanova. Big East basketball tournament will be in Rome in 2026.

What I was referring to was that one of his parents was a Sox fan and the other a Cubs fan.

If you live in Chicago and believe in god...you are a White Sox fan...

The Sox certainly need prayers.

Since he's from Chicago, you should know that Leo XIV is properly pronounced "Leo the Shiv".

He’s a southsider from what I heard earlier.

He's from the south suburbs of Chicago, very close to where the Blues Brothers are canonically from. This is the part of Chicagoland where people unironically speak with the "Superfans" accent. If you look at his early biography, what churches he attended, where he went to school, etc., you could not write a more stereotypical biography of a White Sox fan. So I would be surprised if he turns out to be a Cubs fan.

That said, I am a White Sox fan from the North Side of Chicago so I am in no position at all to throw the first stone if this Pope bleeds Cubbie blue. Or frankly to show my face in public at all, given the last two years.

His brother said the initial media reports are wrong and that he's always been a Sox fan.

I suppose, to the extent a clergy role might be deemed to encompass humility and suffering, being a Sox fan (especially last year) would make one qualified.

Updated the title.

So, when does Jalen Brunson get an audience?

What I haven't seen is whether either of his brothers has any children. It would be interesting to know whether he's Pope Uncle Leo.

Edited to add: And here we go. The Washington Post has a report mentioning a niece.
