2025 Trade Deadline - Who we trading/who we getting?

Williams, Law, Finnegan, Lowe, Bell, and Rosario should all be on the table if they are performing. I know Lowe might ruffle feathers, but we have House and YoYo in the upper minors and Lowe is a good not great 1B.

None of these guys will get more than a low A lottery ticket or maybe a AAAA player like Jose Tena.  But if Rizzo does this right, the Nats could get close to the Marlins active payroll.

Lowe is the only one who might garner a decent return.

I think the question is how does CJ look at shortstop? If he struggles, defensively, they need to move him to another position. Does that position change necessitate trading someone else? For instance, do they try him at 2B, and move Garcia? Do they try him in CF, and move Young?

Or could they just move him to LF, put Wood at DH, and then call up Hassell and platoon him with Young.

I just don't see them ever moving Abrams off of SS, even if he's the worst defensive shortstop in baseball.

For Abrams to really regain his value means he would have to sustan his solid play over months. If he does that, we're probably not sellers at the deadline.

Which is why I don't expect him traded. Either he plays us out of selling or himself has no value.

Not even Lowe?

But yeah, not expecting getting much more than a bag of peanuts for Bell & Rosario lol.

Abrams could be Bobby Witt Jr and we'd still be sellers at the deadline.

Well with the way the other guys in the Nats' lineup have been "hitting" (if you can call it that), that wouldn't be surprising lol.

We have 3 more seasons of Abrams assuming Spotrac is correct. If he has a good season I assume they try to extend him, and failing that, trade him next year assuming Seaver King is ready to step in at SS.

Abrams might be a '27 deadline trade given how his salary should trend.  If he had made Super Two, next year might have been more likely.  I don't think Mini Me cares "who's ready" when he tells Rizzo to dump payroll, this is strictly a financial move.  Can always scrape the bargain bin to find a $2 million/year lottery ticket to fill in the gap if needed.
