:( . Nice guy. I'm not saying he's in the top tier of announcers, but a very decent man who has been part of the fabric of the Nats.

20 years as the voice of the Nationals.

Are we to assume that Kolko is his full time replacement? I'll acknowledge that he's improved over time, but he just doesn't have the voice or delivery of a big league play by play announcer in my opinion. Or the resume, for that matter.

Really depends on who ends up with the TV rights. Kolko certainly has "next man up" status.

It probably depends on who gets the rights

Seems like a big coincidence that his last broadcast will be the last time MASN does a Nats game.

Nats seem to control who does their broadcasts, so I'm sure he could have stayed if he wanted to.   He's been trending towards retirement for a while though, and probably seemed like an opportune time.

He was a good PBP, and it's comfortable hearing the same voice every year, which is part of the baseball experience.

I'll miss him.

Yep. This seems like he's getting out because he knows the end is coming.

He’s been phasing out for a few years now. But that probably sealed the deal.

Too bad, he's a good play by play guy.  Kolko cannot be the full time replacement.

I'm no big fan of his, but he could certainly be replaced with much worse.

I grew up listening to Bob call the Nats.  The voice of my teenage years back when I watched almost every Nats game back in high school/my early college years.

I doubt he'll ever be truly replaced.  20 years is a heck of a long time to be a fixture in people's homes.

I could see a situation where they bring in somebody with an ESPN or Fox gig with Kolko retained to cover when that person is away.

Kolko will be a cheap signing for the Lerners...get used to him being the voice of Nats TV broadcasts.  Not only that, he has put Franny in his place already, so that early friction has been settled.

Kolko cracks worse than an 8th grade boy and 2 or 3 games in a row with him in the booth soon become unwatchable.  The only thing I don't like about Dave is when he says "can of corn" all the time.  His signature "see you later" will be missed.

You've already forgotten his name.  Will be easy.

Bob was on with Charlie and Dave before yesterday's game and shared a few stories. He also talked extensively about his scorebook and how much it means to him when he sees kids scoring games. He just came across as an incredibly humble person.

I'm sure it's been posted here before but there is a video out there in the ether of Bob attending a wnff gathering for a couple of hot dogs and a chat.

Simpler times (not really but nostalgia makes it feel that way  )
