Since Minnesota doesn't seem to care, Why Don't the Nats celebrate in some form the 1924 Walter Johnson led First and only World Series win for 95 long years. I know we tool Montreal Team in 2005 and took their name, but why is a major historical piece of Washington baseball relegated to old history books? Thanks to Welch for reminding me in older posts.  Ted Lerner  who brought 3rd team to DC certainly heard about it from his folks. I'm sure games near that era brought the love of baseball to him. A medallion give away or any type souvenir would certainly add to teams attendance and remember the one of the most important times. The 2nd and 3rd teams is DC might never have ever existed without the love our parents grandparents passed on to us. Shirley Povich (anyone remember him ) must be spinning in his grave for this injustice. Just a thought

There was a display to celebrate the World Series win 100 years ago when I went to Target Field this summer. There is also a flag in the OF for that and other AL championships of that era.

They The Washington Nationalsalso are doing a celebration weekend with pennants and other giveaways

[edit - when I said "They,"I was referring back to the OP which said the Nationals should honor the 1924 team. However, because the OP also starts with a discussion of the Twins, and there was an intervening post discussing what the Twins have about 1924, "they" led to confusion. Poor choice of pronouns on my part]

I agree, para, about 200%. Ted Lerner could name the starting lineup for "The Wrecking Crew of '33", the Nationals' pennant winners. And one of the first non-kids books I ever read was a history of all the AL teams, with a chapter by the great Shirley Povich on the Senators. I still remember his line after he described Game 7, 1924: "Lovable Walter Johnson...how could you help rooting for the guy?"

9/13-15 will be the celebration weekend for 1924.

friday fireworks to 1924 themed music.
Saturday 1924 championship bobblehead
Sunday 1924 pennant

[edit - I see it was not obvious that this is the Nats honoring the 1924 Nats, not the Twins]

The 1924 team has nothing to do with Minneapolis, which was then and still is a minor league town. Incidentally, MLB declared that the Expansion Senators continued the records of the Clark Griffith Senators, as a fiction that was supposed to make Washington fans accept the new team. If anything, the Texas Rangers should be giving away Walter Johnson jerseys. Except that Nats Park has that statue of The Big Train at the main entrance, and for good reason.

Washington should fly the pennant flags from 1924, 1925, and 1933, plus the WS flag from 1924.

Nationals Park has a ring of honor that recognizes some of the stars of that team, such as Walter Johnson, Goose Goslin, and Sam Rice. It needs to include Joe Judge, and this current Nats team needs a 1B like Judge -- a quick and slick fielder with a lifetime 47.9 WAR, .298 average, and .798 OPS, a 114 OPS+. That was across 18 years with Washington and a couple part-time years with Boston and Brooklyn. If he had played the modern 162 game seasons, he'd have averaged 38 doubles and 12 triples a year. (The more I write about the 1924 season, the more impressed I am with Joseph Ignatius Judge's hitting).

Give aways to fans in Minneapolis?? There are plenty of Washingtonians whose grand-parents or great-grand-parents went to Senators' games in 1924 and on to 1960, when Calvin Griffith stole away to Minneapolis. And we cheered for the Expansion Senators through losing season after losing season.

this at Nats Park, not Minnesota.

The Nats have a weekend honoring 1924, and I am pretty sure they fly a 1924 banner. If you come to the M&G, you can get a 1924 Championship bobblehead.

Seriously, all of you who remember the original Nats should come to the M&G. great way to trade nostalgia stories and to get a souvenir commemorating Washington baseball.  From his rep, I doubt Griffith would have given you a souvenir.

I'll be there, wearing my 1959 replica Harmon Killebrew jersey. That's the one my daughter gave me that I put in the closet, sayinig I would not wear it again until we had a team again.

Washington baseball fans do not give up.

They just mentioned on the Phillies/Dbacks broadcast tomorrow night they're giving away rings to the first 30,000 fans to celebrate the NL pennant last year in Arizona. Very fitting it's a series against the Phillies. Seems like rubbing it in lol.

Years ago, maybe around the year 2000, I had to go to Texas for work. While there I figured why not check out the Rangers. I walked into the stadium and the Ranger players were wearing Washington Senators jerseys. It was a throwback night. Very cool.

I was surprised to see no throwback uniform night, until I saw the 1924 Senators uniforms:

Doesn't get more minimalistic than that.

A pinstripe take on a retro uniform at some point – – not left up to Nike, but actually replicating the older design without going on the cheap – – might look neat

The all-white uniform was a great look. Look at it here:

I'm confused. When Bucky Harris hit the home run he didn't stand and watch it first and he ran around the bases fast.
