Good job on Gore to avoid the complete meltdown and at least go 5.

How did Blankenhorn drive in two runs on no hits and no walks? I missed it.

Touch and go in my mind whether Young can get on enough to play.
310 obp won't do it.
Yeah…he’s a great defender and he plays hard. But….  Let him finish out the season and see where we are. And it’s not like we have a scary DH.

Still tied for second most WAR on the team amongst position players. I'm fine with pushing him to a 4th outfielder spot if he's blocking a legitimate bat, but ideally we'd be looking to improve the other spots in the lineup first before moving on from Young.

Gore demonstrating again why the Nats need to develop some two-inning relief pitchers. Or spot starters who mostly pitch in relief. As I work through the 1924 season, I can see that the Old Senators used Firpo Marberry, By Speece, and Allen "Old Rubber Arm" Russell in relief. Firpo also started, at times, but often that looks like Bucky Harris used that as a bullpen game. Marrybwerry would start and pitch about four innings, followed by Speece, followed by Russell.

This game will need four relievers.

No, a 4-run lead is not a safe time to try Garcia again.

Going to be a lot of fun to watch a full season of Wood next year.

Call has earned a starting spot for the rest of the season. If they call up Crews move Wood to DH and see how it goes.

Getting Rainey back as a dependable setup guy for next year would be huge.

“James Wood (21 years, 324 days) is the youngest player in MLB history to have a game with a HR, 3B, 2 SB and 2 BB. The previous youngest was Ben Chapman (23-120) in 1932.“

I would give Call or Crews time in CF. Heck, if Wood said he was more comfortable with cf reads, I would play him there before dh'ng him

I think Wood is deceptive in left field. He threw that guy out at the plate the other night against the Brewers. He's got speed. He'll be fine in left field.
