Last update was April 3rd that he's dealing with an elbow injury though the club didn't believe it to be serious. That there have been no further updates isn't a good sign.

I don't know how you have a not serious elbow issue as a pitcher

Your name is Max Scherzer?

It is incredible how a few guys like him have long careers without any elbow issues. Clemens and Ryan too come to mind.

He's 25, so makes sense.  He had great control in the Mets org, but has been inconsistent with ball fours since his injury.  Still, he could be a bullpen piece after the deadline trades.

He's 25 years old, made it to AAA last year before getting hurt. He shouldn't need another start in AA at this point so he should go to Rochester and I think be next man up. Him or I guess Alvarez.

Alvarez has pitched well as of late but he's still not doing anything that would make one think he's going to earn a rotation spot.

I'm okay with taking it slow, given this was an elbow injury. He and Cavali can come up at the same time, pushing Soroka and Williams out of the pen

do we lose a disproportionate number of our ranked prospect pitchers to surgery? To some extent, the old management seemed to view guys with injury history or red flags as a value play, along with extra height with delivery issues. IIRC, Henry, Rutledge, Cavalli all had injury history, along with Denaburg and some others. Giolito was likely to need surgery and did. Meyer was awkward. Idk about flags on Stuart and Sykora. Shuman. Aldo Ramirez.

No idea. A couple years ago, we were praising how healthy our pitching was.
