11-for-their-last-28 stealing bases. Absolutely horrendous. Almost impossible to get caught that often. But they’re so predictable. They just run for runnings sake. There’s no strategy to it.

The stolen base attempts have been painful to watch. I mentioned in the GDT but Abrams has almost as many CSs (8 ) as SBs (11).

He had 8 CS for his whole career going into the season.

Im wondering if we need to start a baserunning thread. It seems really bad. Apparently it was just Vic blundering.

Broke this out of worst offensive performance and stole the title from Spinal Tap.

I'm truly floored how a guy like Young could go from perfect for his first 20+ career attempts and 12-0 in April to 5 stolen, 5 thrown out since 5/1.

Could have said there's no line between strategic and suicidal for the brain trust. This team does not behave like outs are precious things.

I wonder if there's a tell when they are going. It doesn't seem to be bad jumps. I can excuse Lane's last caught stealing when Garcia was up and the call was for a hit and run, but I wonder if there's some sort tell that it was on, because the pitch was unhittable and Goodman (I think he was in for Stallings) nailed Thomas. Colorado also called a successful pitchout in the game.

With Rizzo's scouting rep, you'd think the team could self scout for tells, or at least be able to see a pattern in its running decisions.

This is just a rant about basestealing. You could easily extent it to a rant about other base running mistakes.

Despite the latest troubles I'm glad the Nats plan on being aggressive on the bases. They don't hit many home runs so they need to keep running.

They solved the baserunning issue on Sunday by not having any baserunners.  Ta dah!

Well...CJ overran 2nd in the ninth and was slow to get going on the double that brought him home. Does that count?

I listen to them most mornings. Al Galdi is usually spot on with most of his takes while Zuckerman tends to toe the organization line but both have definitely been upset with the horrible base running. Basically a daily topic of discussion at this point.
