Yes. I think life expectancy in the USA has decreased about 1.5 years since Covid.

MLB attendance is up in 2023 than it was in 2019. It had been going down over the years and hit a low in 2022. The spike in attendance in 2023 and the average age going down since 2019 would suggest more younger people are interested in baseball. I would think it's a combination of shorter games with less watching pitchers stand on the mound picking their butt and gambling.

How do pitchers gamble and pick their butts at the same time while standing on the mound? PitchTrack?

Hey, if you're going to pay a guy that many millions of dollars he needs to be multi-talented.

I think there is something to be said about this. Also, when I go to games, I do see lots of families going. I mean, it's mostly in Philly, but families are bringing their kids out to games. I also know that businesses are investing in social hour events and such. I got invited to an event in B'More in early May, and I might just go!

Nats rank #18 on the MLB Hope-o-Meter ranking of fan optimism. Unfortunately that team to our north ranks #1.

Angelos is selling. That alone is enough to energize any fan base.

How much is prior deferrals and Corbin's back-end bump?

TalkNats had it at $114 million right now, based on AAV, without any bonuses other than signing bonuses for Ruiz and Corbin.

Spotrac shows $107 million in active total payroll, and $116 million in active AAV payroll, including deferred salaries.  I have no idea how they calculate the difference. Spotrac shows overall payroll, including benefits, minor league contracs, and bonus pool contribution at just under $137 million.

Based solely on current 26-man payroll, the Nats rank 25th. In terms of total payroll, we're 21st.

Watching Rochester on milb.com TV, far more exciting team than the big league club.

Harrisburg. Other than Wood and some pitchers, the big prospects aren't in AAA yet. Alu. Call, Young, Kieboom, Blankehorn, Dunn . . . I guess just Wood, Yepez, and Millas

I like Young, Baker, and the speed on that team.

I like Young and Baker, but that's not the sexy team. I expect Young to be the 4th OF next year.

We’re currently in second place and are the only other team in the East to have won a game besides Atlanta!!
