Pinckney starts with Wood and Crews. Hassell sits.

Just want everyone to know I’m a Pinckney believer.  He looks like he could be a 25hr/25steal CF.  He’ll be like crews but will bat .260 instead of .300

I hope you're right. The Nats site predicts he'll get to the majors in 2026.

.689 OPS is nothing to write home about. Again, it's more impressive if you note that it's a .356 OBP. Only a .045 ISO, but solid on base skills.

Harrisburg and the Eastern League looks tough on power.

Pinckney could be a stud if he puts the contact skills together.  55 power, 60 run, 55 arm, and 55 field.

Quietly having a solid season at Harrisburg and has posted a .905 OPS in July so far with two doubles, a triple, a HR, and 2 SBs in 7 games.

Maybe he's our 1B/DH of the future?

Seems to have taken over as the primary CF'er with Lile shifting to LF.

His defensive ceiling is far higher than that, which is good because he's 23 and not hitting enough in AA to justify 1B/DH.  I'm not sold on CF (only seen him there once though), but I can see either corner, and he's played 3B in the past.  Dude can run and he might hit enough to be a Lane Thomas type.  I'd expect him to finish the year out in AA and then go to AAA next spring, when he'll be 24.

doesn't have to be added to the roster until after the 2026 season, then 3 options. Looks like a nice depth piece.

Those plate numbers look a bit less gross if he can stick around in center.

Maybe a trade chip for a SP next year?

Via Nationals Player Development:
Quote
Nats No. 28 @MLBPipeline prospect  @andrewpinckney_  has hit safely in 3 of 4 games and his HOT over his last 18 G.

The  @AlabamaBSB  product and 2023 4th-rounder is hitting .302/.421/.492 with 9 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 10 BB and 11 R over that stretch.

For a major leaguer? Would need lots more than that. Maybe him and Morales.

Lile has been hitting as of late as well.

Rizzo hasn't been shy about trading prospects and we certainly have the prospects now.

Not sure they really do.  Where do you think the system will be ranked after Crews is promoted?  20?
Also teams don't trade MLB SPs much anymore unless they are expecting a big haul.  A team would be looking for at least one top MLB prospects for any decent MLB pitcher,  And more.  I think it's easier to try and sign a veteran free agent pitcher this point to a to or three year deal.  The team has the money to spend.  That and a 1B or DH with some power.  As VARK noted we don;t have many plus hitters.  Wood is encouraging but needs help.

I actually think House ends up the big trade bait.
