I'm in favor of this demotion.  Hopefully a wake up call to him.

He’s looked awful.  Ruiz probably should be there too.

Who the hell is Stone? I don't see a thread for him

Thanks......Garrett I would have recognized but I searched for a prospect named Stone. Rizzo kept Dickerson hoping to get an offer but obviously there was none or he would have taken it rather than giving him his unconditional release . Yes I know Captain Obvious.

So Garcia is arbitration-eligible after this season according to Spotrac (https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/washington-nationals/luis-garcia-20621/)

He's not hitting at AAA: .228 / .281 / .649, 1HR in 57 ABs.

With Alu's emergence, and Lipscomb moving up the ranks, do we cut ties after this season?

he's not going to make a mint in arbitration, so I could see keeping him unless they need the roster spot.  He's played well in stretches throughout his career, but somehow he slips back to bad habits. Maybe the demotion puts the fear of G-d in him.

Luis Garcia is like all those dudes who were "prospects" in the early rebuilding years. He was a young player who had some flashes of competence, but once the real dudes start showing up you can tell he just ain't it.

he was a top-100 prospect in 2019 and 2020 per BBA and MLB Pipeline. He hit over .300 in 2021 and 2022 in AAA. He was a no doubt a legitimate prospect, but he just seems to have forgotten how to hit.

I'd be shocked if they cut bait with him. They kept Robles forever, and Garcia never had that level of hype, but for sure he has at least garnered a bit more leash.

He's only got about 2 years of service time, so how does that work? Is he super-2 status (I always forget how that works exactly)?

spotrac estimates he's super-2 eligible.

he had 1 year, 164 days through 2022, so he has 4 more months on top of that. That's probably super 2 status. It is as if he were a late May call up, maybe 1st week of June.
