Development List
« on: May 07, 2023, 12:47:51 pm »
What is the Development List and why would a player be put there? From what I’ve read, it seems to be a place to stash a MiLB player while not putting him on the official Injured List.

Outfielder Tres Harris caught my eye when I caught a couple of Senators games a few weeks ago. I just checked on him, and saw he was on the Development List. Just trying to figure out what that means for him.

Players on the development list don’t have a time restriction like the il. Teams use it to stash players for a variety of reasons including rest, teaching, mechanisms changes, etc. they can’t play in minor league games when on the list but can practice with their clubs.

I've never heard of this development list. Thanks.

From what i've been able to gather, it was established 2 years ago as part of the expanded minor league rosters after the league contracted teams.
