the only time i ever paid for lexus club seats was for a natural double-header. I figured the $200 or so a ticket was almost worth it if I was spending 7 hours or so at the park and getting unlimited food/drink.

Up here it is "darkness at noon". It is orange outside, and we cannot see across the Hudson to New Jersey. I walked to the living room to close the windows, and the living room is pitch-black. That's another room that faces the river. We get sun there every afternoon...but not today. Looked at the air quality index, and DC looks better than NYC, and New York is much better than eastern Pennsylvania.

I'm sure the Yankees will "bravely" play on, but the Nats?

WABC (NYC) says the smoke will drift south this afternoon and evening, deepening the haze over Philadelphia and DC. Good luck, Washingtonians. We ordered an air filter. I could smell the smoke earlier...smelled a bit like walking through Montclair, NJ, during an October evening when everyone has a log in their fireplace.

It was awful out there today. I was in Welch's neck of the woods for work and people in the office kept saying it was looking like the end of times. Granted, I'm not sure if any of those people have ever been to California during fire season, but NYC felt like LA today. Then my trek back home felt even worse. Visibility was eerily bad. I also didn't see a definitive prediction on when the smoke would finally blow out of the area, but some weather publications said this could hang around until next week. Given the unique weather patterns this year, we could also be in for a few more Code Purples until the fire season dies out in September.

this is pretty unprecedented for an eastern Canada / New England / New York fire.  Add in the strong low circulating this stuff back over the continent instead of a bermuda high blowing it out towards Greenland and its freaky.  I've not been conscious of this sort of set up in the past 50 years.

this is pretty unprecedented for an eastern Canada / New England / New York fire.  Add in the strong low circulating this stuff back over the continent instead of a bermuda high blowing it out towards Greenland and its freaky.  I've not been conscious of this sort of set up in the past 50 years.
