When should Wood be called up?

immediately. Drop deadwood. Enough with the invented reasons. It's time.

Late May to midJune. Give him more at bats against lhp & decrease Ks, raise average.

The Lerner answer - manage to avoid super 2, & make sure he's not a likely '24 RotY when he's up

Well, if RotY is something to go for, 8/20, when he'll be eligible for rookier status in 2025

Let's see if they IL him to hold him back a bit longer in the minors. Could you imagine the meltdown here had they called him up and he hit the IL right away?

by the way, as one of the late May, see how he's doing crowd, it's late May and it seems he's hitting lefties. I'm in the "it's time" crowd.

FWIW, Ghost Mears at Talk Nats say June 14th, which should put him past super-2 and probably outside  RotY 2024 consideration.

Davey said wood was dealing with hamstring tightness and was removed last night as a precaution. No word on he’s feeling today.

probably out until Tuesday at the earliest. It's a good sign that he hasn't been placed on the IL.

Just waiting to announce that he will be gong into surgery for a leg amputation.  Standard procedure for the Nats.

Yep. Especially since it’s to repair a broken shoelace.

Will Wood need rehab before the Nats promote him?

I'm not sure of the recovery time on a hamstring transplant.  Hopefully his body won't reject it.

3 or 4 days off probably was smart for resting it

Paulson says Wood will miss "at least a couple of weeks" with a hamstring strain.

RoY winners often have OPS numbers in the low 800s, and then if they're good get to .900+ OPS in a season or two.

With the time needed to adjust to MLB fastballs and pitching in general, could be '26 until he's a .900+ OPS hitter.  The injury plus service time manipulation is only delaying the point at which he can really contribute.

There are only 13 MLB players currently having an OPS of .900 or higher. OPS on average has been going down.

10 finished last year. An OPS of .900 is absurdly good. That's MVP level of production. If Wood posted a high .700s/low .800 OPS against RHP and played good defense, he would be a significant contributor on this team. He would easily be starting in CF, and we'd probably be having conversations about whether or not we should give up Hassell, Morales, and/or other players at the deadline to get some combination of Alex Bregaman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Brent Rooker

If you wanted a left handed OPS of .900, could have just kept Bryce Harper  :couch:
