They had to go and say "Alabama wide receiver skillset" when talking about his tools.  That's Destin Hood all over again.

All this shows is how bullcrap the scouting reports are at this age.

Juan Soto had a 55 grade hit tool when he was signed. These are the same people that gave Robles a 60 grade hit tool.

$4.9 million to Vaquero, which explains why the Nats could not sign Gutierrez this international signing period. Gutierrez signed with Texas for $2 million.

By the way, the Nats and Daugherty of the Post spell his name "Christhian Vaquero."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/01/15/washington-nationals-signing-cristhian-vaquero/

Jorgelys Mota is the other big bonus guy, at $2550K.  Rest are $10K or less due to cap.

I don't see Little Soto on the list.

Soto isn't eligible until '23 to sign.

So is it too early to crow about snaking him from the Mets, who were previously expected to be the frontrunners?  Just a verbal -- and presumaby breakable -- commitment now, correct?

Correct. Just like Gutierrez.

Anthony Gutierrez signed with Texas for $2 million today. Eighth-rated player. (Unless there is another Gutierrez...)

He originally commited to us, verbally.

Sure. I read that he was 50/50 committed to us, given that the Nats would spend whatever it took to sign Vaquero. If Gutierrez had waited until the next signing period, maybe the Nats would have offered more than Texas.

I’m hoping vaquero gets an aggressive assignment to the complex league and makes it to low a this year

I get he is really young and it's hard to project, bit where does he land in our Top Prospects right now? Just after House?

1.Ruiz
2. Cade
3. House
4. Vaquero
5. Henry
6. Lara
7. Antuna
8. Adon
9. Cruz
10. Carrillo
