The first Black athlete at Iowa State, Trice died on Oct. 8, 1923, just two days after the second varsity college football game of his life. Minnesota players trampled Trice, and reports say he broke his collarbone in the third quarter and later died of hemorrhaged lungs and internal bleeding. Racist motives were suggested. According to a passage in the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder, “the KKK was at the stadium, and there had been a float sponsored by the Klan in the homecoming parade.”Almost 75 years later, Trice’s name was affixed to the stadium. Iowa State would not play Minnesota again for 66 years after the game that ended Trice’s life.
I was watching Iowa St-Iowa and Iowa St. plays at Jack Trice Stadium. It’s the only Stadium in college football or basketball named for a black Person. But I had never heard of this or him. So I looked him up and found this on the internet:Since I had never heard this, I imagine that many others hadn’t either and thought I would share. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Trice
My God what a horrific story thanks for sharing, I had no idea about this either.
This has to kill the ACC’s chances of getting a playoff berth
I don’t think FSU was going to be a factor at all. They are not good. ACCs playoff chances start and end with Clemson.

I think Clemson needed quality wins since they already have a loss. ACC teams taking horrible losses makes that impossible
You’d think their boosters would buy them a better team with player sponsorships
I'm old enough to remember "Clemsoning" being a verb meaning, well, exactly what happened today. But the last decade made that easy to forget.
Down goes Clemson...again...in 2 OT's...Dabo was really showin' his ass while the NC State coach seemingly handled himself class the entire game...
All their money is tied up in shoes...
Top 5 next week?
Top 50 next week?
Too bad they don't play Rutgers next week...they could be 5-0 before they drop the next 7 in a row...
