Is there a guy in AAA that could use time in LF?  Not many OFs on the roster.  Five including Yadiel.

I meant "days" literally. There's no purpose for him on this team.

How so?

Lots of things come to mind. Service time manipulation, the way teams work the Luxury Tax, Rule changes, COVID's shortened season, and basically how tanking teams have ZERO recourse for tanking. Revenue sharing isn't helping either.

Daniel Palka. I don't think he's on the 40-man, but there must be a lot of room this evening.

Anyone know why the Chisox dropped Palka after his one full season, 2018, when he hit 27 homers?

Because he can't play a defensive position competently and then started the next season 0-32 and hit barely .100 for a month.  Tough to get back to the majors when you're a DH who doesn't hit enough.

Those 27 homers came while hitting .240 with a sub-.300 OBP and only 15 doubles.  Basically, he hit a few fly balls over the fence but mostly he just hit an assload of F8s.  That's not enough for a guy who is a defensive liability at any position where you stick him.

Those are valid bargaining points, but I meant how do players have more leverage than ever?  Isn't a strike their only real leverage.

Hard to use the shortened 2020 season though, as they got what they demanded...

My only guess is that he was 27 and played poorly in his brief call up so the Sox moved on. He could be a Yadiel Hernandez type. Probably at best a bit above replacement level but not anything more than that. Lots of players have looked good against AAA pitching but get fooled in the bigs. I bet Para is kept around for "clubhouse intangibles" at this point. Ask him to take a deal as a special coach and give his spot to somebody to at least get a shot. Maybe Daniel Palka can turn 2 months of play into a league minimum contract with a team next year as a 4th OF?

EDIT: Or just read Elvir's post. His sounds way better.

My guess is that they have more of a connection than ever with fans thanks to Twitter and Instagram and the like. Players grievances are being aired out more than ever before, and more and more fans are giving the stink eye and yelling at the ultra rich owners.

Just worried they’d ship him out with everyone else for a clean skate. I’ve grown to really like him.

He's signed through 2023? If they fire him, they pay him, so why fire him I guess.

I'm worried for his health.  He's aged considerably in the past two years.

 What do you mean? You've been his fangirl since day 1. This isn't on the manager. It should actually keep him here for several years to come.

Yea can't blame this on Davey. Not his fault that Stras is broken, Corbin turned into a rotten pumpkin, Lester is pitching like someone his age usually pitches, the entire bullpen not named Hudson, Finnegan, and maybe Harper and Hand are a total dumpster fire. Too many things had to go right this season and managing couldn't change the winds.

He's 57. He needs to lose weight. He looks okay for 57.

Pressure's off for the rest of the year. Probably be good for him. Gets to teach and encourage without any real expectations.
