Nationals vs Dodgers, Game 1
« on: July 01, 2021, 06:23:15 pm »
Assuming this game actually takes place.

     @

Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington Nationals
Where: Nationals Park
When: July 1, 2021, 7:05 PM EDT
Weather: 75° at gametime, rain likely

Pitching Match-Up:
Victor González (LHP, 3-0, 2.10) / Tony Gonsolin (RHP, 0-0, 2.77)
 - versus -
Patrick Corbin (LHP, 5-6, 5.33)

Gonsolin was originally listed as starter, but the Dodgers have named González as "opener". I don't know if this means Gonsolin was scratched or if he is expected to come in after González has opened. Gonsolin has played in four games this season, giving up 1 run in each outing, but going no further than 4 innings.

This will be Corbin's 16th start, and though he has not been as bad as he was to start the season, his starts are still nail-biters. In his last four starts, he does have a 3.20 ERA, though.

The Nats took theor time posting a line-up. The Turner-less line-up is a bit strange.
Washington Nationals

1. Kyle Schwarber (L) LF
2. Josh Harrison (R) 3B
3. Juan Soto (L) RF
4. Josh Bell (S) 1B
5. Yan Gomes (R) C
6. Starlin Castro (R) SS
7. Alex Avila (L) 2B
8. Victor Robles (R) CF
9. Patrick Corbin (L) P
          Los Angeles Dodgers

1. Mookie Betts (R) RF
2. Chris Taylor (R) SS
3. Justin Turner (R) 3B
4. Max Muncy (L) 2B
5. Albert Pujols (R) 1B
6. Cody Bellinger (L) CF
7. Will Smith (R) C
8. AJ Pollock (R) LF
9. Victor Gonzalez (L) P

Happy Canada Day!

We need a rainout with that lineup.

Any word if they're planning on starting this game on time?

Here in NY, it is dark and we are forecast to have rain showers all night. DC forecast is thunder storms and a flash flood warning.

What does it look like?

Meanwhile, I forecast that Trevor Bauer will not pitch against the Nats in this series.

The forecast has stood at 20% chance of rain for 7 PM for a few hours now, with the chance being around 90% by 11 PM, so I suppose they are hoping they can get a game in before the heavy stuff comes down

Turner must be in bad shape if he's not playing, he never takes a day off.

And last time I checked, both Adrian Sanchez and Luis Garcia were injured in Rochester.  The Nats should have had Jake Noll here for tonight's game.

Kieboom isnt in Rochester's lineup, by getting him here would be problematic with the weather

They mentioned Sanchez and Garcia in the pre-game. No mention of Noll that I noticed.

Let's just change pitchers every three batters. No reason to want this game to move expeditiously.
