As a fan, the new rules are freaking pants.  I guess the players and the owners were pretty much on the same page though.

And fans should get a 20% rebate for the reduction in the product they are paying for when these games are cut to seven innings.

I still feel I should be partially reimbursed for that opening day game that was never played.

Supposedly there will be two full 9-inning games (1st game resumes where it left off).  I'm glad they changed the rule and now don't erase the part of the game that has already been played.  That old rule was a travesty.

The second game is seven innings. I’d be pissed if I had tickets.

Maybe they should just have Strasburg finish up the suspended game and then make the second game a bullpen fiesta against Sonny Gray.

Let Voth go 4 innings to finish the game and let someone mop up the 9th.

Only a three run lead now.

My hunch: baseball used to depend on selling tickets. A double header was a way to attract more fans -- "two games for the price of one!" A few companies bought season tickets, as a treat for customers. Boss and I took a couple of programmers from Morgan Stanley to Yankee Stadium around 1988. Saw Kirby Puckett.

It seems that more fans buy season tickets, so a team wants one game per day. I miss the old-fashioned 1pm double header and the "twi-night" that started around 4 or 5.

Wow, they are going to have to offer some kind of credit to the fans who bought tickets for tonight thinking it would be a normal game.

So when does the game start?  Looking at mlb.com and MLB at bat app and neither has a time listed.  How lame is that?

MASN has the game listed in the schedule, but is now showing the end of the encore of yesterday's O's game, so apparently no pregame (or at least no more than 5 minutes of pregame).

This seems like a really low-energy game at this point.

Voth was told at the beginning of the year he wasnt going to go more than 2 innings in an appearance

In any event he has only pitched one or two innings this year.  So they are not going to have him go four today.

Voth's FIP is much higher than his ERA.  4.20.  So he may not be able to keep this up.

So Rainey is next. Can he hand some runs to the Reds?
